In a review of Hole‘s performance at Washington D.C.’s 9:30 Club, the Washington Post savaged Courtney Love who apparently turned in performance that’s legendary even by her standards.
The Post claims that throughout the entire show, Love’s assistant Lisa stood center stage filming Love on an iPhone, obstructing the audience’s view of the show. When the audience objected, Love replied “F*ck you, she’s with me.” She forgot the words to songs, played the same song twice and then she brought a fan on stage to asked her “Do you really like rock music? Because you’re African-American. That would be like me being into Lil Wayne.” So that’s awkward. Oh, and super racist. Seriously, WTF?
And the entire set was over three hours. We’re used to Courtney being crazy in public but we at least hope that she wouldn’t bring it so hard to her paying fans. For the full review check out the Post‘s Click Track blog.

She did the same racist @*(*#%~~+@~)^&~( years ago in a MTV Special (She was thin and I think it was around the time of the movie ‘People vrs. Larry Flynt’)… I cant imagine Kurt with a woman like that. He wouldnt do something like that. I guess Billy Corgan wouldnt too. WTF. Hate her.
I dont buy her stuff just like I dont buy racist Kanye Wests music either so…Just cuz shes racist doesnt mean all white people are either.
Kanye West is not a racist, He provides us the truth about the unsincere George Bush and that no singing Tayor Swift, He did not implicate race just poor perfamnce attributes of these two people who so happen to be white,
Wow, I can’t believe it. It’s like Coheed and Cambria all over again.
It’s 2010, you can like who you want and be who you want..that’s some serious stereotyping going on. There are a lot of black people into rock music, and I’m one of them!
Asking someone if they like a certain kind of music is not the definition of racism. Racism is when one thinks one race is superior to another. So, sorry, try again. AND, how could Courtney tell if this person was an American? Or African for that matter? She may have been black, but not all black people are African, OR American. He/she could have been a French Canadian black person for all we know. So, the only thing she did wrong, was $!&_%@&^_)(`~(& ume, as we Americans do in our arrogance, that this particular black person was an AMERICAN.
Fu** this druggie! I got hella love for Kurt Cobain but she is a mistake. Period! She’s washed up and dont even deserve to be on stage anywhere….smh The $!`$#~%)%++^+!)` ppl do for publicity…
I love Courtney even if she’s racist! I wish she was my gf!
Love rocks duck obama and pisses on the goverment
someone should tell courtney that …. african-americans are the architect for ‘rock’ n roll…but first they should ask her if she finds it difficult to play bass with such tiny hands.
OH THE MEDIA….. AGAIN!!!
I feel sorry for her daughter having to claim this itch as her mother. It’s a wonder she doesn’t get along with her. If Kurt were still alive, he would have dropped her a** like a hot potatoe. She’s not hot anymore and this is her way of staying in the lime light.
“someone should tell courtney that . african-americans are the architect for rock n roll”
Actually, that is nothing but afrocentric propaganda. rock and roll was created using african AND european elements. so to leave out whites as AT LEAST co-founders shows your ignorance and racist bias.
and this is not news. black people have done way worse things and nothing was said about it. “Liz Black” is obviously an anti-white racist hack journalist.
Okay. I’m through with this crazy b****. I’m happen to be a African-American who appreciates good classic rock. I love all types of music. What Courtney Love said while she was performing at the 9:30 club in DC was just pure ignorant and dumb. I have been a fan of Hole for several years. After this, I’m getting rid of all of my Hole cd’s.
Rock was created by black people I thought, Chuck Berry comes to mind as a pioneer. I wish there were more mainstream black rock bands like Bad Brains. Maybe there are but i stopped following music cause modern stuff sounds superficial.
She’s a mess. She showed up madd late to a studio session at a Philly station then went OFF on vh1 “behind the music”.
Does anyone one know what she’s talking about?

I was the fan she was speaking to and the Washington Post article totally misconstrues what Courtney said to me. When she saw me in the front row rocking out, she was happy and excited. She pulled me on stage. After the bit about asking if I was into rock ( which I am) she quickly apologized and said that she “hoped she wasn’t being prejudiced.” I #!)&*#$&_~%!&`& ured her that it was fine. Then asked what song I wanted to hear (“Honey”) and then she played it. Later, she had me join her at her microphone and sat down while I sang part of Big Star’s Thirteen (look it up, kids). I actually emailed the author of the Post article about the fact that he totally took what she said out of context to illustrate her as a racist. I’ve been a Hole fan since I was a kid and Courtney friggen Love inviting me to sing with her on stage has pretty much been my fantasy for life. Truth be told, the author of the Post article kind of ruined the most awesome moment of my life by implying that it was tinged with racism. It wasn’t.
im white and im ex termly angry at what she said.
no one should ever feel racial prejudice. she needs some damn self respect. that was one of the most _*_+$!_!_^)^$!#` ing ignorant comments ever to be made.they are whites in rap music too(Eminem) blacks in country music, etc.
i understand she had a lot of pain but that absolutely no excuse to ever make a comment like that.why would she embrass that guy like that in front of everyone. that was a fan who actually liked her. and than she calls him out for being black and liking rock music? thats a _*_+$!_!_^)^$!#` ing stereotype first off. Thats wrong. hes going to a _*_+$!_!_^)^$!#` ing concert, why should he have to feel racial prejudice! no one should. i cant stand that women.
shes a _*_+$!_!_^)^$!#` ing mess. its soooo obvious she will say or do ANYTHING to get back into the spotlight even making a raist comment like that.
no one should ever be treated like a minority,
no matter what skin color or race you are.
the world isnt gonna change, and racial frictions will never ease with people like Courtney love.
does this really surprise anyone??? She has always been like this..
Why do some people %&(*$%`#^)$)$`^ ume that all Black people like Hip Hop, I’m Black & the only time I hear Rap/Hip Hop is when I’m with my White & Asian friends who enjoy it. The Lil’ Wayne comment really annoyed me, that man is a clown & any Black person who has the correct amount of brain cells needed for adequate cognitive function agrees, contrary to what Love seems to believe not all Black people idolize these idiots.
People do you not read the other posts on here? The girl that was out the concert posted a comment. There was no racism. I was at the concert too, and there are some articles (Washington Post) that have flat out lies in them They have her quoting stuff that was never said or they twisted words to make it something it was not. They twisted all of this around…it is ridiculous. If I were Courtney I would sue the post and any other place that put these lies into print. The concert was so awsome. It was great. I could go on and on but I have been posting a lot about this concert with detail. I am just going to sum this up. 1. She was coherent. 2. Considering you have to pack up the opening act and re set the stage she was not an hour late. 3. She was very playful and she interacted with the audience. She took song requests the whole night. 4. It was a great show. Well worth the money. The biggest thing I can tell you is you should not be so quick to judge. The Washington Post was one sided. I think they should have to print a retraction or at least they need to print the truth. I too am going to email the Washington Post.
she is so *%_~+%*#&$~+)%!& ed up from all the drugs she did im surpriced she knws who thw hell she is!shes nasty durty n trashy
Honestly, it may “read” as racism, but it wasn’t said in that way at the show last sunday. I was there and she was merely hinting in some twisted ironic sort of way, not meant to be a jab or hurtful or hateful. She’s not the most eloquent speaker yes, but racist no.
Okay? Why would she not be into Lil’ Wayne? Because he’s black. Just because someone is black doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t be into rock or alternative music. Remember Jimi Hendrix, Hootie and the Blowfish, Living Colour, Lenny Kravitz?
She’s a junkie people! They will say, and do anything when under the influence. They are not to be taken seriously at all when they are high, and with Courtney Love that’s all the time.
