While Brooke Mueller is standing by her allegation that Charlie Sheen threatened her with a knife over Christmas, that doesn’t mean she wants to split with her husband of less than two years. Mueller’s lawyer denied rumors that she recanted her earlier account to police (“that never happened”), but says the pair would be together now if they could be. “There was never a split,” Yale Galanter told E! News. “The thing that is keeping them apart is this restraining order that we’re going into court to try and fix…They have two beautiful babies and they just want to put this behind them and get on with their lives.” Radar thinks Mueller may have an ulterior motive, with their sources claiming Mueller will receive no spouse or child support if Sheen goes to jail—and that her pre-nuptial agreement will be improved by $1 million if he stays free. At the same time, she’d face legal troubles herself if she admitted giving a false account to the police.
Even if the pair reunite—for cynical reasons or genuine affection, the coast is far from clear for either; LA County Department of Family & Child Services are rumored to be starting an investigation. Between the Aspen assault and Mueller’s own record of drug busts and DUIs, there’s certainly plenty to look into.
