Katy Perry’s Parents Hope Russell Brand Finds Jesus

Katy Perry‘s ultra-religious parents still have beef with their daughter’s wild ways, but they’re trying to be accepting—even of wildman boyfriend Russell Brand. “I think the two of them are hungry. They are basically looking for God and they are seeking the truth – and they are going to find it,” mother Mary told The Sun. “You just have to see how the Lord’s will is done. I mean, how many times have your kids disappointed you so profoundly that you wanted to get up from the chair and knock them out?” Come on, Katy’s singing isn’t that bad.

Minister father Keith, who recently vacationed with his daughter and Brand, is similarly philosophical. “We all have a past. I was in the Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin era, and I used to take LSD. Russell’s really got a hunger for the supernatural. He’s got a real spiritual hunger. Russell really likes us because he has a whole new different concept on Christianity now that he has met us.” Not that Keith understands his little girl’s erotic antics. “I don’t know. Why does a duck stand on one leg and go quack? I don’t know…I don’t know about kissing a girl, but I kissed God and liked it better.” If that’s the way he feels about his wife, no wonder Katy’s rebelling.
