LAPD Won’t Make Charges In Michael Jackson Murder Until 2010

Michael Jackson

Family and fans of Michael Jackson have been waiting for months to hear if Dr. Conrad Murray will be charged for administering a lethal overdose of Propofol to the singer, and that uncertainty won’t end any time soon. LAPD Commander Patrick Gannon told People that “a decision [on whether to prosecute] will be made in 2010. It is not going to be made this year.”

So what’s the hold up? It’s not that they have to decide if it was murder—a coroner already ruled in August that MJ’s death was a homicide. But Murray claims that lots of doctors prescribed the drug to Michael, calling into question whether he’s responsible for the entirety of the star’s intake. Having been burnt by sloppy detective work before, the LAPD wants to their case to be air-tight. “”We have taken our time with this to make sure it’s done correctly.” With Conrad potentially facing a civil suit whether or not he’s charged, this legal drama has only barely begun.
