Having taken his lumps for dumping show winner Melissa Rycroft for runner-up Molly Malaney at the Bachelor reunion special, Jason Mesnick has finally explained himself to Us Magazine.
After choosing Rycroft, producers asked him if he “thought Molly would make a good Bachelorette,” Mesnick revealed. The thought of his second choice getting the same sweet body buffet he did was just too much to bear. “I was not willing to let Molly go on TV and have 25 guys fight over her.”
“Melissa is a great girl, but there wasn’t any chemistry,” said Mesnick. “So I broke up with her after Christmas, about a month after we wrapped.” Her on-air shock may have been for show, but Mesnick was forbidden to speak to Malaney until they saw each other at the special. “Obviously, I didn’t want it all on TV, but I had to take the chance if it meant getting her back. I’d rather have picked up the phone, trust me!” With Mesnick and Malaney now engaged, we may have to.

Ok this is crap! I can’t believe a guy would dump a girl that fast because of the question: Would Molly make a good Bachelorette after the fact? Come on! Were the producers forcing him to choose or was he really into Molly and couldn’t ask her the right way? Please! I liked Jason at one point but he ended up to being wishy washy. What really upset me was using his kid to make it fit! You can’t do that in a couple of months, it plays with peoples emotions! If he knew that Melissa wasn’t the one, then she should have been sent home earlier – why make her wait till the end.
I like this show but it is stupid how it ends! They shouldn’t ask the person to marry them at the end – it should be to continue being with that one and then go from there!
