Take a good look at Paula Abdul sitting at that judges’ table, because she won’t be returning to it for season 9 of American Idol. After weeks of contract disputes, Abdul finally confirmed our biggest fear last night on her Twitter, thus giving Kara DioGuardi way more screen time than we see fit.
Paula wrote (tearfully, we assume): “With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”
Honestly, we will miss Paula more than we care to admit, and not just because it means more Kara (we’d blame her for everything if we could) – Paula’s rapport with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson was sweet and unpredictable even while being contentious, and was reason enough to watch the show. We will miss her glitter makeup and high necklines, her nonsensical, free-form poetic critiques, the palm clapping, the forgetfulness, the mustache Simon drew on her face last season, but most of all, we will miss not being able to reference MC Skat Kat in any of our future Idol recaps. ‘Tis a sad day indeed. This is a strange move, because what is she going to do after this? I don’t think anyone in Hollywood really wants to work with her.
I’m starting to see the end of AI.
Now I know why I won’t be watching the 9th season of my *used to be* favorite show.
T.O.? I don’t folow fotbal so I don’t have any ideal how he plays and how good he is, But what I do know that he somewhat like me in his life growing up, He made me cry, I don’t do that for anyone I don’t have any Information on what he does in football, Al I know his face tel a story about how it was when he was growning up, I wish I can talk to him about me and how he got my attention, And why I say, Out of al the pro players, He is the most proud of makein it
Paula, American Idol will not be the same.
I understand….and she’s doin other things…she has her jewelry line on QVC that sells out everytime she’s on and we have no idea what else she’s into just because she won’t be on.. Don’t think you know all. I know she’s got Paula A covered… I will miss her. I know she will be glad to get Simon off her back. He constantly mocked her…so that was a pain, I’m sure….Thanks Paula
Bummer! I cannot say that I am surprised… Now We all have to listen to Kara, Not a huge fan.. I will miss Paula… I wonder if the show will ever be the same?
