DioGuardi Confirmed For Next Season Of Idol

Kara DioGuardi isn’t letting contracts and salary disputes hold her back the way fellow American Idol judge Paula Abdul is – she’s just been confirmed for season 9. We give this development a sarcastic hand clap. Yay. No, seriously. Woo. A whole new season of Kara expounding on the difference between being an “artist” versus being a lowly “singer.” GREAT.

Last season we found Kara to be superfluous at best (other words that come to mind are “grating,” “needlessly argumentative,” and “excessively arm-wavy”). She was a nice foe for Bikini Girl, but that’s about the only enthusiasm for her that we could muster. Let’s hope she doesn’t feel the need to write next season’s finale song like the epic fail of last season’s “No Boundaries.” Perhaps producers will realize it’s nice to set boundaries sometimes.
