Idol Contestant Killed In Hit-And-Run, Suspect Arrested

Everyone loves to make fun of the crazy American Idol contestants; the delusional and, at times, sad people who just want their slice of fame. Sadly, some of these stories end tragically. Last year it was Paula Goodspeed, the Paula Abdul-obsessed auditioner who committed suicide in front of Abdul’s home. This weekend we learned of the untimely death of one of Idol‘s more notorious wannabes, Alexis Cohen (Glitter Girl, to Idol fans), the victim of an unfortunate hit-and-run in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

Cohen auditioned at the beginning of Season 7 of Idol and famously spewed an expletive-filled rant and gave the double-bird to Simon Cowell and Co. after being told she wasn’t going to Hollywood. She reappeared at auditions for Season 8 and convinced the producers and judges that she has turned a new leaf and was a more calm and rational person, and when she still didn’t pass the first round of auditions, she went off on the judges yet again. She was ratings gold and the producers knew it, which is why they allowed her to be rejected a second time.

While her death is tragic and certainly no result of her auditions on the show, Cohen will forever be remembered for those appearances, and it makes you wonder if that first round of the show can be unnecessarily cruel. After all, Cohen, while seeking fame, ended up with infamy. She was found by pedestrians on the side of the road after suffering fatal injuries early Saturday morning. 23-year-old Daniel Bark has been arrested for reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Poor thing, she obviously wasn’t “right”. This is a tragedy, and I hope the judges feel awful for being so mean to her to get ratings.

The judges have nothing to do with her death. This was a stupid 23 year old kid who left the seen and never did anything about it! I feel sorry for her and my prayers go out to her family. Based on American Idol she was not that good the first go round but the next season she was getting better. If she didn’t get cut there she probably would have gotten cut in hollywood.

Whether she was going to succeed in Hollywood or not has nothing to do with the fact that Alexis’ death was a real tragedy. She clearly had set goals for herself; if she hadn’t succeeded in music or acting, she would, most likely, have gone on to be a veterinarian – a very honorable life choice, and one for which she seemed to be very well-suited…..My thoughts and prayers go out to her mother and the rest of her family and friends.

My heart goes out to her mother & family for their loss. Really unfortunate thing to happen to such a bright & outspoken girl. She will be remembered.

I guess that her number was called and with that in mind what comes around goes around and I solely believe that, may she be remembered as the girl with that sparkle and outspoken ways , shes now singing and laughing while were in a worse place and shes in a better one, may the family be at peace soon ….
