Cruise Has Beckham In His Tractor Beam

There have been lots of reports and photo evidence suggesting that Tom Cruise is good pals with David Beckham, but a new book goes into detail about just how close Cruise and Beckham really are. In the forthcoming title, The Beckham Experiment, by Grant Wahl, we learn that Cruise has had quite a powerful impact on Beckham ever since they met in 2003. The two stars share the same agency (CAA), PR flack, physical therapist, and they live five minutes from one another in Beverly Hills. The Cruises even threw the Beckhams a “Welcome to L.A.” party when the family moved across the pond, and Becks claims it was Cruise who convinced him to take the job with the L.A Galaxy soccer team. That’s an awful lot of caring and sharing.

Beckham also admits that his youngest son, Cruz, who was born in 2005, is something of a namesake of Tom. Beckham told Wahl, “I must admit, when [Victoria and I] met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different.”

Beckham does show a measure of resistance though when it comes to Scientology, Cruise’s notorious religion. Beckham says “He and Katie have their beliefs … but me and Victoria have also got our own.” [Photo: Filmmagic]
