Our headline may sound a little over the top, but is it really? A crowd of around 17,000 Michael Jackson fans who were packed into L.A.’s Staples Center — plus an estimated billion people watching worldwide on live television — were given the show of a lifetime today. The event is already being billed as the first worldwide memorial service. Some highlights:
- We watched Michael Jackson’s casket, gold-plated and covered in red flowers, being carried into the Staples Center and placed in front of the stage. (Watch the clip above and the whole M.J. memorial at VH1.)
- We listened to Queen Latifah read a touching poem by Maya Angelou.
- We listened to basketball great Magic Johnson talk about the “greatest moment” of his life: Eating a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken with Michael Jackson. (We never knew the Gloved One was so, um, average.)
- We watched Brooke Shields, who struggled to speak through tears, say that Michael Jackson was “pure, non-jaded and a lover of life.” Rumored to have dated Jackson in the 80s, Brooke described becoming friends with the King of Pop when she was 13 years old and how the two bonded over being child stars.
- We listened to Smokey Robinson, who wrote several songs made famous by Michael, read condolences from both Diana Ross and Nelson Mandela.
- We watched Motown founder Berry Gordy say that Michael Jackson was “the greatest entertainer that ever lived.”
- We watched a heartfelt, soulful rendition of “Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer” by Stevie Wonder, who proclaimed that he wished he “hadn’t lived to see this day.” We watched riveting performances by Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie and Jennifer Hudson.
- We also watched Usher’s performance of “Gone Too Soon” (co-written by M.J. himself) start off shaky with a gasp for air and end in tears.
- We listened as the Rev. Al Sharpton addressed Michael’s kids directly, saying: “Wasn’t nothing strange about your dad, it was strange with what your daddy had to deal with.” We’re not sure about that one, but we’ll let it pass.
- We watched a stage full of celebrities and children sing “We Are the World,” the song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie in 1985 and used to help fight famine in Africa.
- We watched Michael Jackson’s weeping little daughter, Paris, say that that “daddy has been the best father that you can ever imagine and I just want to say that I love him so much” — easily the saddest moment of the day. Ugh. (Watch Paris Jackson speak here).
- And we watched Michael’s big brother, Jermaine Jackson, sing and cry at the same time, which looked like a difficult feat to us.
Then again, we shed a tear or two while blogging — and that’s not easy to do, either.

July 7th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
The memorial was very very sad. I dropped all my plans just to watch the memorial. I never thought I would here Paris speak. The kids have a great and fabulous guardian now that there dad’s in a better place. We lost a phanominal man who only thinks of the good. I will definitly miss Michael. The rest of my life won’t be the same anymore because he’s gone now. R.i.P Michael Jackson; you will definitly be forever remembered.
July 7th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
I watched the memorial from start to finish and this truly was a beautiful, respectful and appropriate way to honor an individual who touched so many lives. Today Michael was finally acknowledged the way he should have been in life! Michael Jackson was an extraordinary individual. One in a million…. God bless Michael, his family and especially his precious children.
July 7th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Ok…he was a good entertainer…but he was NOT the best…John Lennon did as much if not more for the world and didn’t get all this attention…the ~^&!!$`(^“%_@% le of the best ever will never be had by anyone.!
July 7th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Paris Jackson made her father proud today. It must have been so hard for her to stand and speak to the public for the first time, let alone about her father. That moment alone should speak volumes about the person Michael Jackson really was. To the world a King but to Paris, he was just Daddy.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:07 pm

“We listened as the Rev. Al Sharpton addressed Michael’s kids directly, saying: “Wasn’t nothing strange about your dad, it was strange with what your daddy had to deal with.” We’re not sure about that one, but we’ll let it pass.”….let it pass?? i know exactly what Al Sharpton is talking about and so did millions of other people. Ya’ll still be on some bullshit. Sharpton hit right dead in the middle when he spoke at Jackson’s funeral. and whoever made the comment about John Lenon doing more than Mike….dude stay off the weed! Not taking anything from John Lenon but dont compare him to Michael
July 7th, 2009 at 7:31 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
This was really devastating… I don’t even want to imagine the pain his children are going through. I send my sympathy. Michael Jackson will never be forgotten, he will still have his spotlight no matter where his spirit goes.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:33 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
One of the saddest days in history! No one ever thought that the king of pop would leave so soon. Though he may be gone from the earth he will forever live in the hearts of his fans and the legendary music he created! You will be missed MJ
July 7th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
One of the most powerfull man in the pop culture entertainment business. He was an icon to many of the celebs of our days. His spirit will live on forever through his music and videos. As a fan i wish the family the best thgough these hard times.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
VH1, I have said this before and I will say it again. Thank you so much for the fantastic coverage of the death of Michael Jackson. You have given me a new out look on TV stations, I have such a level of respect for you all.
VHi and CNN were and are the only channels that gives us what we wanted. However ,VH1 did it with such conviction and dedication, I have been crying since the day he died. Thank you for the coverage of his memorial and all the memories.
Michael, may god be with you and rest in peace. We love you and miss you. You will always be in our lives. You legacy will live on.

I don’t care what anyone says those are his kids. They look too much like him.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:36 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
Michael was truly the most amazing guy ever. He wil live forever!!!
July 7th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
Mr. Gordy said it best, Michael Jackson was the GREATEST that ever lived (in the music industry) I’m so glad the media was forced out of defaming him with negative acquisitions even if only for just a few hours. Rest In Peace MJ you’ll live on forever in our hearts!
July 7th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
I am Guilty… why didn’t I realize how much I loved him two months ago or even a year ago, why did I get caught up in the media hype seeing solely what was on the outside and ridicule him for being so different… when in reality Michael was always different but when he defied gravity and moon walked across the stage that sent me to the moon but when he changed the color of his skin and texture of his hair I sent him to the guillotine. Only after his demise did my generation realize how much love and compassion was in his songs and how he truly changed the entire globe with his messages of love and compassion. Michael Jackson I’m sorry and I do sincerely love you!!! Forever and ever your fan, R.I.P. to the king of MUSIC and DANCE!!!!
July 7th, 2009 at 7:42 pm

I am watching the memorial now, and like everyone else, I also have great memories of him. We were already in the 80’s when I finally got to know Michael jackson’s music, but still, it was great then, great now, and will be great forever, if anyone needs some touching words, all they need to do is turn to his music, and their spirits will be lifted. We love you Michael.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
I don’t know if MJ can be classified as the best or not. That will be left to the coming generations to judge. I know that his music and songs brought people together and gave joy to millions across the world. I know that he had his flaws but which one of us doesn’t. His guilt has not been proven and from personal experience I know that if you have a lot of money, people will accuse you of anything just to get at that money. My gut feeling is that somebody as generous as Michael could not have commited these crimes, but there are people who cannot stand to see anybody succeed.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Your ~+%!($^$)@()`%( le is exactly right if you ask me. The memorial from the beginning to the end was beautiful. It was truly a farewell to a King. Rest in Heaven Michael Jackson…You will be missed…And We Pray to meet you there one day….
July 7th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
That was supposed to say caption but for some reason it was censored…..
July 7th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
His voice was like a gift to the world from heaven. His presence was like a breath of fresh air, like a light at the end of a tunnel, He was the essence of what being a legend should be about. Giving a message that the world holds dear and applies to their every day life. Oh, how I mourn the passing of the world’s greatest Icon. May you rest in Peace Michael, you are gone but never forgotten.
July 7th, 2009 at 7:52 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
I watched the Memorial service on VH1 when I got home from work since I was not able to see it during the day. I thought it was a fantastic Memorial service fit for a King (which he was). It was a truly memorable and moving service. Parts of the service made me cry (especially when his daughter appeared at the end). He truly was the King of Pop and it was a proper send- off. I know he was watching from above.
I have been a Michael Jackson fan for many years. I am still shocked and very sad that he is gone. I love him and I will miss him with all my heart. My sympathies go out to his family and close friends. We all miss Micheal and I know they will find strength in each other to carry on during this difficult time.
Rest in Peace Michael. You are forever in my heart and prayers and I will truly miss you!!
July 7th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
I CRIED LIKE A BABY…THE MEMORIAL WAS BEAUTIFUL…PARIS SHOWS HOW MUCH SHE LOVES HER DADDY….R.I.P. KING OF POP. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR MUSIC AND LEGACY. GOD BLESS YOU!!
July 7th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
I’ve had a hard time believe that he is really gone. Watching the memorial really gave me a great deal of closure. I think it’s time to let him R.I.P and not be sad of his passing but be happy that we had the opportunity to be touched by such a genuine individual. He’s so incredible and I truly believe that he is a legend and will NEVER be duplicated. Thank you michael for blessing us with your love and music. BEAUTIFUL memorial. May god be with his family and bring them peace.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:05 pm

I don’t think Michael Jacksons family could have done a better job. It was a true memorial. I cried the entire time watching. I love Michael! I can remember planning our wedding sitting on top of my grandmothers kitchen counters. I believe as a child that we would someday meet and fall in love forever. I was probably 1 of millions who had he same dream about Michael. I was a true fan, I never believed the bad things, I did not want to discuss them. I really wished I could have been in L.A. today. I love you Michael! For Ever
July 7th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
never can say goodbye to the man in the mirror who lived off the wall and made all the pyt’s remember the time they were working day and night just to get on the floor and scream ‘don’t stop till you get enough!’ Gone to soon is the original dancing machine, who made it look as easy as abc to step outside this bad and dangerous society, to forget about being black or white, to look inside ourselves and live up to our human nature to get together and heal the world. Maybe tomorrow we will all realize he is just another part of me who missed his childhood, but beat all the odds and become the greatest in HIStory.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Michael Jackson truly was the greatest entertainer that ever lived. Generations have grown up idolizing and listening to his music. There is no artist who wasn’t inspired by Michael Jackson in one way or another. His contributions to music, charities, and the world will forever live on. He should be remembered for the good he did and how he helped change the world, not for the scandals or false accusations made against him. No entertainer will ever come close to accomplishing what he has. He is in a better place right now, away from all the hate and lies, may he rest in peace.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
Michael Jackson’s Memorial was Albosolutely Heavenly! Michael Jackson, A King, An Icon, A Prince, A Brother, A Son, A Father, but most of all, he was a FRIEND to all humankind. This Memorial Service sent chills running through my body. High profile celebrities and everyday fans were in attendance of this great memorial moment, but most of all the Holy Spirit was in this place. People screamed Michael, but the King was unable to answer, however his works spoke for him today. Long Live the King. I love you Michael Jackson…..My Brother Michael, Job Well Done……….God Bless Mrs Katerine Jackson, Joe Jackson, Michael’s three children, brothers and sisters and the entire Jackson Family.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
My thoughts & prayers are with the Jackson Family. It took alot of guts to stand on the stage & tell the world hoe his daughter Paris felt about her father. She summed it all up. I felt a close connection with Michael, because our birthday is August 29th. I will never forget Michael Jackson, he gave so much of himself & to his fans around the world. His music will be around forever. His memory will live forever. Rest In Peace Michael..
July 7th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
All I can say is I know how the family feel. My mother passed the same time Michael passed. It was very emotional for me watching the memorial. I felt every pain the family felt. I cried during the whole thing. My prayers are with the family. God Bless the Jackson family. This is the day I will never forget. I will never forget the “King Of Pop”. I know my mother is with him. You will be missed ever much Michael and my mother. May God Bless the family
July 7th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
michael jackson inspired many with his talent and wonderful music. he is an example to all that we should always strive to be the best we can be. michael gave everyone memories that they will hold dear for the rest of their lives, and though he left us, his music will live on through all who found joy in listening to the King of Pop. RIP MJ.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
I love the Jackson family for allowing us to share in their home-going of Michael. It’s really given me the day to release tears of sadness as well as joy, as I thought of the memories Michael and the Jackson Five gave my sisters and I of all the countless rehearsals in our bedroom, as little girls to Jackson Five songs such as ABC, Better Make a Way for The Young Folks, etc that we won talent shows dancing and lip singing too. We grew up with Michael and his brothers. Michael’s passing is a very painful loss, but the memories of this greatness will forever live in my memory. Thank you Michael for being who God created you to be; “The World’s Greatest Entertainer!”
We Will Love and Remember You Always,
Linda in Dallas, Texas

Heres to the LIFE and LEGACY of a true icon, and musical genius—-MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON - May he Rest In Peace!. Thank God for allowing his mom and dad to bring forth such a shining star! Jackson Family, know that God has a special place for your Michael, our Michael and the World’s Michael. We didn’t know it, but Michael was an Angel, and He was not here to stay; but instead to show us who he was, and he DID THAT WELL, for 50 WONDERFUL years!! The scripture says that we should be careful how we entertain strangers; for we may be entertaining angels unaware! - He was an Angel to us all–The Angel Maker has just called Michael from whence he came. Michael will forever be in our hearts, minds and on our radios, ipods, MP Players TV’s and video players!! - We will NEVER FORGET YOU MICHAEL!! - You taught us that We Are The World…We loved you, but God loved you best!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you and we will always REMEMBER THE TIME!!
Jackson Family, be encouraged, GOD is with all of youl!!
Love, Lady Diamond (NY)

Reverand Sharpton, how can you say there was nothing wrong with him. He was a freakin nutcase. Good thing he died, now he cant rape any more little kids.

Delta, Ohio, 1971, I was 11 yrs. old, Michael was 1 yr. older than me. I grew up with his music from ABC to Thriller. Michael had a magical voice and even though I was never known, like many other fans by Michael I feelt greatly, greatly touched by his absence. I will miss his knew moves, music and voice. My mother in heaven also loved Michael, she used to call him “Miko”. I have asked mom to wait for him and guide him in heaven and allow him to continue his legacy and sing from above.

Let me first start of by statting Micael is 6 years older than I am, And I want to thank the Jackson family for giving me so many reasons to smile. You see when I was born I was born with brain damage. No matter how long or short of a time I was in the hospital over the first 7 years of my life I use to watch the Jacksons on TV even their Cartoon. And by watching them made my stay a bit bearable while I was in the hospital. Even watching Janet on Goodtimes. She has even brought me a few smiles over those years also. So I want to thank you the whole Jackson Family. For each of you has deeply touched my life in ways I cannot even put into words. The world may have lost a great performer. But God has inherited a wonderful Angel. Angain to the Jackson family. Thank you very much.
Sincerely
A Grateful Fan IN PA
James

July 7th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Yes, the memorial service was the most perfect and beautiful service I’ve ever witnessed. Every performer, every speaker, and every picture/video left me sobbing. I thought I wouldn’t be that touched, but it was impossible not to be moved by the absolute heartfelt sincerity and love shown for this man. And when his precious daughter, Paris, broke down and talked about her daddy, I truly lost it. This wasn’t about a fantastic performer, but about a son, brother, uncle, friend, and most importantly three children’s daddy. I hope they will take some comfort in this beautiful outpouring of love shown for him.

Michael Jackson now, always and forever. Often imitated but never duplicated! Rest in peace. For those that have posted negative comments, shame on you for being so disrespectful (regardless of how you feel) and remember that your time too will come when you will be judged.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
i love him so much and i cryed when i saw the memorial and i am so sad for paris jackson.ilove the Jackson family for allowing us to share in their home-going of Michael.
We Will Love and Remember You Always,
July 7th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Michael Jackson will always be alive in my eyes….his music will live on forever….he was a wonderful, talented man….my heart goes out to the whole Jackson family, and most of all to those innocent children. Brooke Shields gave an awesome speech about MJ…He was truly a Pop King Icon…..RIP MJ….
July 7th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Watching the memorial made me reflect on how this man was able to touch and influence so many lives in ways we may or may not understand. His music is timeless.
I remember watching Thriller as a child and being so scared I had nightmares for months. For years, I could only watch the 2 minute dance section, which of course inspired me to beg my mother for dance lessons. I was finally able to enjoy the video in college years later in it’s entirety and thought about the genius, time, and effort put into creating such a video. About ten years later, I’ve seen the video 10 plus times since his death and am still amazed by the talent and ability to pull you into his world 25 years later.
No other videos or music have that power today. To be timeless, mesmerizing , and emotion filled- that was/is Micheal’s music.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:00 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
Micheal Jackson is forever in my heart as well as so many of the people I know. He’s truely touched the lives of many, and will undoubtedly be forever healing the lives of many. He’s made a huge difference and I will NEVER forget him. R.I.P. Beautiful, for that is what you truely were.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
EVERYONE in my family loved him…I think my mom is taking this the hardest, but I just wanted to express my love for this man who made me to grow up knowing that even though people in the world are different, we are all connected! I wouldn’t be the young woman I am today if not for the influence of this caring man. R.I.P Micheal Jackson!!
July 7th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
I just found out about michael jackson a couple weeks ago(i’m only ten)As soon as i heard beat it i knew he was one of the best.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
it might sound funny, but a song he sang when he was little was from the movie Ben. It was about a rat, but he had sung it with such passion. I think people have forgot about that song. It is a song i will always have in my head at 62. He shared his love with animals as well as humans.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
I still can not believe Michael Jackson is gone. I was not born when he made his big thriller but I love his music. I will miss michael.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
This world of cinicism and deceit and debauchery was not ready for the sweet, pure, childlike innocense of Michael Jackson. He expressed his heart through his body movements…his dancing. It was not only a talent he possessed; it was his way of dealing and living in this world.
There will NEVER be another Michael Jackson. The gift of self-expression through music is a unique gift from God. And when Michael received that gift, his cup was filled to overflowing. I truly belive that Michael was an angel that God wanted to spare from anymore earthly heartache. We,
as children of God owe Michael’s memory one thing…to SMILE and be true to our own hearts.
God bless you, Michael. You will always be in my heart.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
This is a traggic lost and would like to send my condolences to the family.
R.I.P. Michael J. Jackson
July 7th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
i still remember waking up in the morning( being the last one to wake up) hearing michael jackson tunes being played in the living room. we all have been touched by michael’s music. and his death has taken a big part of us with him. spending my ten year old days practicing my moonwalks instead of playing with cars or my videogames. performing little parties that my mom held. rest in peace michael jackson. the king of pop
July 7th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
Growing up I always listened to Michael Jacksons music I remember my 1st slumber party my brother played DJ with his record player and we all danced to Michael Jacksons music it was the best slumber party I ever had we danced all night long! There are many other memories of Michael Jackson but it would take a long time to write them! I would just like to say in closing to Michael I will never forget you thank you for so many memories! I would like to send condolences to his family and his friends!
July 7th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
In 1968, my sister celebrated her 13th birthday to the tune of ABC..It’s Easy as 1,2,3… At this party, there were many friends and 6 of these friends asked my sister to go out with her as her boyfriend. She said YES to all 6, unbeknownst to all!
July 7th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
This is not a national tragedy. A funeral is a family’s business. Unless a Congressperson is a member of the family or friend, it’s a waste of my taxpayer dollars to have them speak at such an event. Nice service, sure, but the whole thing is ridiculous. Humanitarian, maybe, but so are many others who deserve [more] recognition. Also, if death is an accidental overdose, is that acceptable? Was it from a drug abuse problem? He was a talented entertainer, but the entire thing is just over done.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
HEAVEN GAINED AN ANGEL…THE WORLD LOST ONE! I LOVE YOU MICHAEL, TODAY, TOMORROW, FOREVER…FELICIA
July 7th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
I think that MICHAEL JACKSON WAS THE BEST SINGER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and everybody will miss him, when i heard he died i was about to cry.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
As I sit here still in shock of Michael Jackson’s death I’ve came to the outcome that he was an Angel sent to this earth from Heaven to bless us all. I’m so thankful of the Jackson family to allow the fans to join in the Memorial Service, because although I was born in 89′ I didn’t get the chance to see him perform live or meet him in person, but for some reason I felt as though I knew him personally.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
“It wasn’t anything strange about your daddy.. it was strange what he had to deal with but he dealt with it” Al Sharpton.. that was well put.. RIP Michael
July 7th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
I remember when I was a little girl and we had Michael’s Album and his picture was on it and I would walk pass it and say he is looking at me and my sister would say no he is not he is looking at me…
July 7th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
When my son was born our welcome home gift was not a crib but Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” album….today we continue along with our son (who was only days old when he first started hearing Michael Jackson’s music) continue to be one of many of his biggest fans. Only Michael Jackson could bring so many different generations together as one. Thank you precious Michael, only MIchael Jackson coul accomplish such a blessing for a family.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:19 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
We will all be able to remember him because of his music.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
Being as though I’m only 17, and I’ve grown up through most of Michael’s rough years, his music has made a bigger impact on me than any other. Michael’s greatest aspect; the fact that I don’t have a single favorite song of his. Having created so many hits, it’s too hard to decide.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
I remember once upon a time I used to be terrified of the “Thriller” video, now I love it. I know the entire dance. (lolz) Now I understand that he was the most woderful person in the world and he will be missed. I Love You Michael Jackson!!!!
July 7th, 2009 at 9:24 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
I was raised in a home where violence could erupt at any given moment a cantankerous enviroment. Although I lived in a house full of people I was very much alone and I was a dreamer. One night on the Ed Sullivan Show I had the priviledge of seeing Michael and his Brother perform on the Show something very strange happened on that night at my house, being mesmerized by this kid who was the same age as I was, that night we all agreed on one thing that Micheal Jackson was a very special person, he brought our family together that night…..Thank you Jackson Five…………………
July 7th, 2009 at 9:29 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
IT SADDENS ME THAT EVEN IN DEATH THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT MICHAEL. I PRAY FOR THOSE LOST SOULS. TO KNOW THAT REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOUR PERSONAL FEELING WERE REGARDING HIM, THAT YOU COULD BE SO COLD-HEARTED, MEAN AND HATEFUL. THAT MAN WAS SOMEBODY’S SON, FATHER AND BROTHER. APPARENTLY YOU DON’T HAVE A FAMILY. NOTHING ANY OF YOU CAN SAY WILL CHANGE THE FACT THAT MICHAEL WAS THE GREATEST HUMANITARIAN AND ENTERTAINER THAT EVER LIVED!!! WE DON’T HAVE TO PROVE IT..HE ALREADY DID!!!!
July 7th, 2009 at 9:33 pm

You will never be forgotten, your music will live in my life forever.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
It is such a blessing that Michael Jackson accepted Jesus Christ into his heart before he left this earth. Even though he is already home, he has left here on this earth an unforgettable talent. R.I.P <3
July 7th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
I feel great sadness for a mother who has to lay her child to rest, for children to not have the love of their father, for voice of all ages silenced. I will think of you now as the angel Michael, on the side of humanity and all the unheard needs of the worlds children.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
i wasn’t even born when the Michael Jackson Era started, but watching the memorial, thinking of him and knowing that i barely even knew or heard his music, i can’t stop crying. and now i wish i could’ve been alive when his era started.

~I Love You Michael Jackson~
July 7th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
When I was a little girl I would listen to Michael Jackson sing and I knew he was singing only to me. When I would be angry with the world for myself being diffrent he would sing and make me feel better about life and myself. Michael was an angel that was here only for a time and now he has to go back and rest because he was tired as we all get sometimes. We always remember angels that have touched our lives and Michael is one that will never be forgotten. Please dont dwell on what has happened, but what is going to happen UNITY
July 7th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
Why don’t people just remember all the good Michael has done, the smiles and the memories will live on as will his music. Please let him rest peacfully and stop bringing up those stupid allications. The tears will not stop flowing for a long time to come. Paris, Michael, and Blanket, hold you heads up high you dad was a great man and has taught many people alot. If only people would listen to the words in his songs and follow them then the world would be a better place. He will always be there.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
I must add this, on one of the saddest day in history. I do believe that God took Michael because he could not endure anymore, even if Michael did not think so. I feel that during and after his come back the press/media would have had a field day with him.
His brother said it best “maybe now they will leave you alone”.
Be at peace now Michael.
July 7th, 2009 at 9:59 pm

July 7th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
I’M STILL LOST FOR WORDS.. I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE THAT HE IS GONE, AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE ABOUT HIM BEING IN THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE YOU KNOW.. PEOPLE JUST WOULDN’T LEAVE MICHAEL ALONE AND PLUS HE WAS COMING BACK, THEN I TURNED TO THE NEWS AND I WAS TOLD THAT HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL.. I WAS ON THE PHONE AT THE TIME AND I TOLD MY FRIEND “OH MY GOD, IF HE DIES IM GOING TO CRY” NEXT THING YOU KNOW.. HE’S GONE, I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT AND I COULDN’T EVEN CRY.. AS BAD AS I WANTED TO.. I COULDN’T CRY EVEN THOUGH IT CAUSED A HUGE IMPACT ON MY LIFE… I’LL NEVER FORGET MICHAEL JACKSON.. I LOVED HIM AS IF I KNEW HIM PERSONALLY… I REMEMBER ME BEING A LITTLE GIRL I WOULD ALWAYS GO TO MY GRANDMOTHERS FRIENDS HOUSE AND WATCH THE VHS TAPE THAT HE HAD OF HIM I NEVER GOT ENOUGH OF IT.. I’M ONLY 16 YEARS OLD BUT MICHAEL HAS BEEN SUCH A HUGE IDOL IN MY LIFE… IF IT WEREN’T FOR HIM NONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT YOU SEE ON TV DANCING TODAY WOULDN’T BE DOING THE MOVES THEY DID.. MICHAEL JACKSON WAS AN ICON TO ALL AND A LEGEND, MOSTLY THE KING OF POP.. AND MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY BECAUSE I KNOW THEY ARE GOING THROUGH ROUGH TIMES RIGHT NOW… REST IN PEACE MICHAEL JACKSON YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
July 7th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Michael you worked very hard all your life. Now rest in Heaven’s Peace. God Bless YOU.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
I loved Stevie’s tribute. I always loved that song, and never EVER imagined how much it would mean in this moment, to have it be so fitting that he would leave in the Summer. I loved his beautiful daughter, who I always felt was so bonded to him. Everytime u saw her with him she was holding to him so tightly, as in love as only a truly loved daughter can be with a good wonderful father. John Mayer was d 1st one to make me cry with Human Nature. Because it wasn’t fully sung out, when I tried to sing it, myself, my voice just stalled and broke. It felt so good to LET IT OUT, FINALLY. I will never hear him live, I will never meet him, he never knew I existed in a literal sense. But figuratively he loved his fans, more, so therefore he loved me. And that will have to be enough.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Michael will forever live in our hearts. I love you Michael, even though i know that you are in a better place. Until I see you again.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
I grew up watching Michael, a friend and I used to do the thriller dance on the yard in High School. I saw Michael in concert when he came to New Orleans in 1975. I feel like I’m part of the Jackson family. My condolence go out to the Jackson Family .The memorial was very emotional to me and I would like to know how can I get a copy of the memorial.

The memorial for Michael Jackson was so beautiful. I was touched, happy, and saddned by what I saw. He truly has touched a lot of people including myself. His is a legend and his legacy will live on forever.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
I thank Michael Jackson for giving the world a chance to experience such wonderful music, dancing, and overall showmanship. From being a 2 year old, dancing and singing along to every word of his song “Will you be There”, to being 18 years old, dancing and singing along to all of his songs with my goddaughter in my arms, creating yet another generation of Jackson fans…..his music and persona is timeless and we will never see another person on this earth like him. May he rest in peace.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
Thank you VH1 for rebroadcasting this beautiful memorial.
It was a fitting tribute to the greatest entertainer of all time.
God bless you Michael, may you find the peace in heaven that you deserved to have here on earth. His contributions and memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who love and appreciate his music and talents.

First thing I want to say is I miss and I love you Michael even though I have never known you personal you were a big part of my life and my mother’s life. I remember us dancing and singing to your beautiful music man you could jam like no other. You are more to me than music you are bigger than music you are caring and wonderful person. You wanted to heal the world and you didn’t care what the color of anyone’s skin was you wanted to see happiness for all people. You gave money, you made appearances and you pushed for new laws and bills. What I man, what a person you are one of kind and it harms me to hear people disrespect you critics and media need to grow up and mind their own business. Because you judge and poke fun of this man but he is doing more for the community and for people in need than you will ever do in a lifetime. For all those fans who turned on him and all the people who lied about Jackson molesting children you should be ashamed and I pray for you because you surely need it for you actions. Today we celebrate your life and you as a person and all you have done for people in need and I’m glad you still cared for people despite the fact some did not do the same in return. Michael you are not alone you will never be because you family, friends and fans our here for you always. I hope that one day that people make this world a better place for all generations because that’s all Michael ever wanted and to see us happy. God bless you Michael I know you’re in a great place and you will live on.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
i grew up watching micheal jackson. he has changed the world of music…. my heart is overwelmed with pain. i love you with all my heart and you will always live on in my heart and my childrens heart.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Michael Jackson may you rest in peace and God be with you. You were a great performer no one can ver replace you and no matter the bad things they say about you I know for a FACT that you are a good person. In 2001 I can remember when the 30th anniversary concert aired and my parents taped it and I was like ‘Who’s this?’ and they told me. Then I started to watch the tape all the time and I learned lryics to songs like The Way You Make Me Feel,Wanna Be Startin’ Something, and many more. Then I really got into and became a huge fan. Today I was in tears watching your memorial the day he died I was in shock and confused. They all said he was in good shape so I was DEFINETLY confused. I love you and your music forever. RIP MJ bless you your family and friends.

Someone once told me “music that is not danced to………..is wasted” Michael’s music brings the soul to life………………….and dance we will.
Who was Michael Jackson? Simply, he was the best.
What was Michael Jackson? He was one man, one single person who brought the world together…………..in death……………..and in life.
Our brightest star no longer shines………………so we shall shine for him, together!

I SPEAK ON BEHALF OF MY FAMILY AND MYSELF. WE ARE TRUELY HEARTBROKEN AND SEND OUR PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY. WE FEEL LIKE MICHAEL WAS A PART OF US , SINCE WE GREW UP LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC. BUT HE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN CAUSE HIS MUSIC WILL LIVE ON FOREVER. MAY HE BE AT PEACE NOW. I HOPE THAT PEOPLE WILL LET HIM REST AND REMEMBER ALL THE GOOD THINGS HE’S DONE AND STOP TALKING ABOUT THINGS HE WAS NEVER CONVICTED OF. WE NEED TO HONOR HIM NOT TRASH HIS LEGACY.

This was an extremely difficult event to watch. I did however. The memorial was everything it should have been and then some. I’m very much offended about the rude comments and/or REliving the hardships he had to endure during his stay with us. It’s bad enough we/he had to go through them to begin with. I absolutely hate it that just because ‘most Americans’ couldn’t UNDERSTAND him and his life…then he HAD to be a bad person. That’s so absolutely untrue. He was and still is a genius and I am grieving the loss of this incredible humanitarian.
July 7th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
i grew up watching Micheal Jackson a part of my soul is has died with him. i remember me as a little girl kissing his poster’s and dancing in the mirror to all his legendary music. I remember trying to do the moon walk just like Micheal…. i feel like my childhood has vanished now that he is not with us. no one will ever !!!! be better than Micheal Jackson. he will live on in my heart and will always be my #1.

I grew up loving MJ for as long as I can remember. When I was 6 yrs. old, my brother won tickets to his concert from the local news paper in Philadelphia, PA. Words can’t express how I felt that night. It was 1983. So it was only natural that my children love him as much as I do. They are 9 and 5 yrs. old. I had to break the news of his death to them as if he were a close family member. In essence he was. I know we can never feel as much pain as that of his family, but I’m sure it’s some what close. My heart goes out to the Jackson family.
July 7th, 2009 at 11:07 pm
MICHAEL I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND WHEN I HEARD THAT YOU PAST AWAY I STARTED CRYING BECAUSE THERE WILL NEVER EVER BE A MICHAEL JACKSON RIP. I LOVED EVERY SONG OF YOURS I WILL MISS YOU AND SO WILL YOUR FAMILY FRIENDS AND FANS. I JUST CANT STOP THINKING THAT HE HIS DEAD IT JUST GOES TO MY MIND WHEN I HEAR A SONG OF HIS I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH.
July 7th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
jerry fawell got more respect when he died , and we know what he did……..Reagan was the cause of so much misery yet he is called a national hero, yet when Micheal Jackson dies dirt flies and trash is talked. A period of mourning would be appropriate and respectful or don’t black folks get that respect too? p.s. the stevie wonder performance was AMAZING!!!

Subject: MJ Casket
As an industry leader in MS, I recognized the stunning casket immediately. The beautiful casket was a 16 guage Promethian casket. It is actually bronze and polished to look gold. Not a rare casket, but seldom used. I would have chosen the silver or platinum one to match his glove, but this one was as breathtaking. -Rep Chuck Espy, Century Funeral Home

I remember getting my first Jackson 5 album as a prize at a pool party and listening to it all the time. I grew up with them and then later, Michael Jackson. He was always looked upon as an icon. a legend, the King of Pop - someone that could never be touched. But today, he became a regular person to me. When his daughter got up and called him “daddy”, I was weeping. Up until that moment, I never thought of him in that way. He was always larger than life. Not today. Today he was a little girl’s father - her daddy. He will truly be missed.

Michael Jackson’s memorial service was one the best memorial service that I have ever seen in my life. It was powerful and just incredible and amazing to watch. His memorial service was a very successful one. I was expecting it to be over the top but to my surprise it was very touching, sad and joyful at the same time and I was very captivated by it. It was not like a TV show it was a true genuine and respectful memorial service. It was well planned, well prepared and well executed. I was amazed to see how much they had put together in such a short time. It was beautiful.T

I grew up around the corner from 2300 Jackson Street in Gary, IN and from the moment I could understand the meaning of that I felt lucky. Lucky to have gone to see the Jacksons at the age of five and dance the entire concert and lucky to hear the stories of my mom and aunts who played in their yard and went to school with his older brothers and sister. And I am also proud to be from Gary, Indiana!!

I share my birthday with Michael Jackson. The first album that I HAD to own was “HIStory”, which opened my eyes to the fantastic songs that I was too young to experience first hand. His passing has left a weight on my heart that I have never felt before. My thoughts are with his children, family, and friends. The memorial service this afternoon was so emotional and it gave even more insight into a man we knew, but didn’t really know… I will miss you MJ…

I grew up with Michael Jackson, When he was in the Jackson Five, my parents had the record and I just wore it down from listening to it so much lol. As he made the records and hits throughout the years, I became a bigger fan. Its a sad day to see such a person who meant so much to so many, pass away. Everyone has had a favorite Michael Jackson song, in good times and in bad. He will always be in our hearts, God bless u Michael

Michael Jackson has the world in his hands, He will remain in our hearts forever. No matter where in the world I lived as a military brat, the comfort that was consistant was Michael Jackson and his music regardless of culture, country or race. How ever so greatful I am for having him.
July 8th, 2009 at 12:58 am
I am a stay at home wife and mother and watched the Memorial. It was indeed a very beautiful moment. I love how Al Sharpton told the kids that there was nothing strange about their daddy… that was indeed very touching. My husband and I laughed at how Magic Johnson stated that the chief brought Michael KFC when he ordered grilled chicken. Which showed a different side of Michael that I did not even know. I also laughed at how Marlon spotted his brother in the disguise. It was especially heartfelt about what Paris said about her father. That was really sweet. When I prayed with my child and husband, I told them to think about leaving some kind of legacy and continue to love and see what we can do to help someone else in this world. I am going to miss Michael Jackson. Someone said in this post that he accepted Jesus in his heart before he died. I hope that is true and gives me great joy if he did. I hope Paris speech will silence the people who said that MJ is a pedophile which I am tired of hearing. I love you Michael and the family. He will be greatly missed.

Michael was a true icon that will never be forgotten,
he was part of my growing up and i will never ever forget the joy that the king of pop has brought to not only me but everyone. I got to see him in consert with my Freinds it was a wednesday night, i remember we were so excited to see him come out, and when he did we couldent contain ourselves from balling our eyes out before he even seid a word,
The love he had in his heart is beyond amazing,
he went thru alot in life and showed us all to be strong and that we could make it thru anything. he was an awesome preformer no one could compare.
I grew up listening to him, i remember after me and my older brother had our showers our mom would say it’s time to go to bed, and we’d always say “we have to say goodnoght to Michael” and we’d dance the best we could to his music with just our underwear and a big t-shirt on
he was an inspiration, he will always and forever be the King of Pop.
I love you Mj Rest in Peace

Michael Jackson.
THE KING OF POP!,
i was at a loss for words and still am about his death, his Memorial was beautiful indeed.
growing up i never missed the premeires of his music video’s my grandma was a huge fan of his, we used to get our hair brushes and sing along to his music.
i always remember growing up the saying my friends and i would say “it’s not a real party without the Michael Jackson records” every sleep over we listend to Mj all night and we’s dress up and dance. we learned “Thriller” witch at the time was our favorite party song. we did that darn dance all the time and still it was never as graceful and beautiful as the King of Pop’s.
Michael Jackson will forever be missed,
Rest in Peace,
the Lord has you now
Our King of pop wil never be forgotten.
I love you Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson-The Memorial: Was beautiful and moving, I couldn’t stop crying. I know many don’t care…or think MJ’s passing is a big deal but if you were not on the verge of tears, the least bit emotional or moved in some way during any moment—especially when Paris expressed thru tears what her father meant to her—if you felt nothing at all, there is a blockage in your heart and a hardness in your soul…for you are unable to see beyond yourself and empathized with the hurt of others. What I received from this memorial is that Michael Jackson is not only a Musical Legend, American Icon but a man, father, brother and a son…a human being. He was beatiful, he meant a lot to many the world over but he meant the most to them…his family. Good bye Michael Jackson—King of Pop…I hope you’ve finally found the peace that had eluded you in this life.
July 8th, 2009 at 1:48 am
Whether you were growing up with his music or just starting to listen, Michael was an amazing artist and all around creative person. He was an inspiration and a joy to listen to in interviews and in music. I will forever remember Michael for teaching me it’s not about how long your life is, it’s what you do with it. Love you always, Michael Jackson. Thank You.
July 8th, 2009 at 1:49 am

Today I watched as the world said farewell to a most beloved man, an entertainer beyond what anyone could have expected to beleive. I cried and laughed to know that he was like everyone of us but more special! I can only wait to see how his legacy will forever change the face of music and humanity. Today the heavens recieved a joyous celebration and earth a bittersweet truth: The man that was bigger than all our love combined was no longer with us but he will never die!!! He showed me that dreams can be made and brought to life as long as we beleive. Micheal you will always live in our hearts and for evermore live on.

Michael, you have definitely defined what it is to be an “ICONIC LEGEND”. You will be remembered, cherished and loved in this life and the next. Have a safe trip home. We love you! — Love is the crutch even through the most agonizing pain.

I required a new hankerchief after Usher ..OMG.
I was not just witnessing history….I was saying goodbye to MJ.I yelled “goodbye Michael”as his coffin slowly disappeared out of sight.I took photos and 15sec clips but when your 115ft away…goodluck trying to make out the images. We were given memorial books.I have 2

I cannot remember the time in which I did not love his music. I feel like a piece of my life story has passed away. I feel that we should have paid such a big tribute to michael before his passing. The world literally stoped for one man’s death. Definatly not only the greatest entertainer but the greatest human being that ever live. truly gone to soon.
July 8th, 2009 at 4:11 am
Micheal was the single most famous person in the world! There is not one person over the age of 15 that has not ever spoken his name! weather it was hate or love don’t matter! He is known by all and love by millions! He will live on in our hearts and minds! RIP MICHEAL!
July 8th, 2009 at 4:22 am
This was really touching.
I hear they’re not sure what to do with Michael’s body…so for the family, friends and fans of Michael Jackson:
I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT MICHAEL’S BODY IS PRESERVED. AS IN, KEPT IN A MUSEUM, OR EVEN HIS FUNERAL HOME (MAYBE AT NEVERNEVERLAND) SO PEOPLE WHO NEVER GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE HIM IN PERSON MAY GAZE UPON THE BODY OF THE LEGEND AS IF HE’S ALWAYS HERE WITH US. MAYBE EVEN RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY SO MICHAEL IS STILL ALWAYS GIVING, EVEN DEAD.
I WANT EVERYONE TO REMEMBER MICHAEL, NOT TO FORGET ABOUT HIM ONCE HE’S HE’S BURRIED.
IT MAY SOUND A LITTLE FUNNY BUT PLEASE THE LAST THING TO DO IS CREMATE HIM, I DON’T WANT HIM TO DISAPPEAR IN FLAMES ):
July 8th, 2009 at 4:58 am
I watched with the world and suddenly I realized that Michael was our link to childlike innocence, some of us were the same age when he introduced himself to us like the kid down the block Neverland our generation as long as he was around. Today we grew up.

July 8th, 2009 at 6:49 am
The “show” was just that, a show. I mean, really? The “We are the World” part, well I’ll just say it, wasn’t good. Usher’s dramatic sigh? Come on… The Jackson family gave alot to the world, and I’ll always have my own memories, but this memorial WILL NOT be one of them. This seemed like everyone who ever knew MJ wanted some face time. Well congrats, you did, at the expence of a legend.
July 8th, 2009 at 7:31 am
I watched the memorial about 4 times already. It has made me cry all those times. His daughter said it all. I know he was a great father to his children. There is no question about that. God bless . His music will never die, he will live on forever. Now he can rest in peace.
July 8th, 2009 at 7:49 am
I would like to say, this has been really hard on me. I know im not the only one. I think they need to say the good things he did and not the bad. He was a kind human being, that cared for the world and children. He did alot of wonderful things. I was born the same year as he. Im 3 months older than him.I played his music all the time. I rember my sister used to dance to Billy Jean. She was so stiff it used to make me laugh. There will be no one like him. He is one of a kind. I wanted to go to his Memorial. but didnt get picked. I hope if my sister comes out we can go to neverland. That is one thing i would like to do before i go. Michael Jackson will be forever. He,s music and his dancing no one will never top that. My heart goes out to his 3 children and his family. May God Bless. Never can say good bye.
July 8th, 2009 at 8:04 am
To Michael’s Children:
Please always remember your Dad for the man he was to you. Never allow anyone’s opinion tarnish your memories. Your Father was a great man. For me it wasn’t his song and dance, but the words from his heart, which touched me so deeply.
My belief is that Michael was sent to the world by God with a gift of music. He had a message to give mankind and we need to listen now more then ever. Be kind to one another, love each other, and cherish your children for they are our future. If we all just took one of Michael’s lessons to heart, it could be a world of peace and happiness.
July 8th, 2009 at 8:27 am
It was just beautiful and tasteful.I cried and I mourned and it was exactly what I needed.
Michael, I just can’t stop loving you….
July 8th, 2009 at 8:28 am
I thought the memorial service was very sweet and emotional. I think it showed just how much Michael Jackson was cared for and that he was a human before all the fame. I think that everyone who sang or spoke of him said what was on our minds from the day we all found out. I am still emotional about it and I hope that his family and friends are able to be at peace. Just seeing his family there and his casket right there was surreal and made even more real. I have felt like this has been a dream and I am going to wake up and he will doing his tour and his family wouldn’t be hurting right now. RIP Michael Jackson
July 8th, 2009 at 8:30 am

July 8th, 2009 at 8:55 am
I was 5 yrs old when Michael was born and in my life only a select few entertainers have held me captive to their brilliance and perfection , Michael was by far the greatest entertainer the world has ever known and his natural skills as a humanitarian will reflect on us forever, thanks michael.
July 8th, 2009 at 8:55 am
I think the service is exactly what he deserved and would have wanted. He was one in a million. There will never be anyone like Michael Jackson and he paved the way for all the younger performers that sang tribute to him. He broke barriers and showed if you want something all you have to do is belive in yourself and try hard enough and you can achieve it. He definatly has passed to soon and his comeback would have been fantastic i am sure. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He as tibute to him we should all look at the person in the mirror and make a better place for everyone in the world and dedicate that to the king of pop-the one and only MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON. You are loved!
July 8th, 2009 at 8:58 am
Michael Jackson you are a pop legend that will never be replaced! you will never be forgotten! Rest in Peace! KING OF POP!!!! Michael…you had a brillient soul and tallent!
July 8th, 2009 at 9:03 am
It was very emotional to watch, especially when they brought Michael’s casket out. I can’t imagine carrying my brother around in a casket. I don’t think I’d be able to handle it!… =’(
Paris Jackson’s speech was the only one that made me cry, though it was the shortest. I really hope Michael’s family will be able to cope with his death and know that he’s watching over them.
I can’t imagine the pain they feel right now.
I’m really hurting for him and especially his family, but it’s the life of Michael we have to remember and celebrate, not his death. Michael will live on forever and at least we know he made it to Heaven knowing what his purpose was.
July 8th, 2009 at 9:05 am
Michael Jackson has really encouraged me to dream big and to never be afraid to be myself. I do not have to be accepted by the crowd because if you do what you love and know what’s in your heart, the more you express the better people will catch on. Thanks Michael for encouraging me to be all that I can be. I started writing a book in attempt to publish so that the world may know just how passionate I am about many things in life. I stopped out of discouragement. Seeing this memorial service and listening to his many phenomenal songs such as “Man in the Mirror” has encouraged me that I can do it. I am uniquely blessed just as he was. Thanks Michael for encouraging. Even in death, you are blessing to young lives even from the last generation in which you encouraged in which I represent. Look out for me. I am an extension of a legacy. He is an African-American that has impacted us greatly. I’m moved to tears at this very moment. I didn’t have motivation to do anything until I thought about his encouragement and his motivation in spite of the media’s constant persecution. I am not your average person. I am plus-sized girl that loves people of all kind and I am willing to help others at a cost to myself. Michael Jackson did this for me. He encouraged me to be unique. Although, I’ve never seen or met him. HIs presence in his music and his many humanitarian acts has been with me through and through. Thanks Mich for giving back in sooo many ways. I LOVE YOU!
July 8th, 2009 at 9:35 am
i THINK ITS TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS MJ TO SHOW HIS CHILDRENS FACES ON NATIONAL TV, ALL AROUND THE WORLD WHEN HE TRIED SO HARD TO KEEP HIS CHILDREN OUT OF THE PUBLIC EYE.I PRAY FOR THOSE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN,BECAUSE NOT ONLY HAVE THEY LOST THERE FATHER, A LOVING ONE, ALSO I PRAY PEOPLE AND THE MEDIA LEAVE THEM ALONE.
July 8th, 2009 at 9:56 am
Ever since Michael’s death I’ve felt my musical era died with him. For a brief moment in time, Kenny Ortega brought that back at the memorial. I don’t know what great is, but I know what perfect is - and the memorial was just that…perfect. Thank you Michael for your music, for your passion and for your inspiration. There will never be another musician or a man like you.
July 8th, 2009 at 10:06 am
It is always a tragedy when a family loses a loved one and especially when it is sudden, however, the attention and publicity that has come from this has been too much. Enough is enough.
July 8th, 2009 at 10:14 am
i watched this memorial at my place of work. I couldn’t pull myself away. I kept going in to check on it. I was very pleased with how well it was done. The casket was beautiful. I give props to all the people who put this together. Michael would be very pleased. I also would like to comment on his daughters fairwell. OMG!!!!!!!!! i was good till i got there and i had to walk out of the room. BLESS HER HEART! and the other was when his brother sang the song SMILE! OMG!!!!!!!! and the final was when Usher started to cry. OMG!!! when i got home i watched it 2 more times. i will miss you Michael….. god has a good angel by his side!!!

thats upseting michael you will always be in my heart I LOVE YOU!!
July 8th, 2009 at 11:12 am
I really thought the song that Jermaine sang, “Smile” was incredible. The Jackson brothers were all very talented as well as Janet. I happen to be more of a Janet fan more than I was ever a fan of Michael, but the song that turned me onto Michael was the song “Scream.” Michael’s music will last forever and I look forward to hearing material that was left unreleased in the future.
July 8th, 2009 at 11:28 am
July 8th, 2009 at 11:29 am
I’M A BIG FAN OF MICHAEL JACKSON AND SO IS MY 3 KIDS I STILL CAN’T BELIVE HE’S REALY GONE I NEVER CARED WHAT SOME PEOPLE SAY OR THINK ABOUT HIM HE’S IN A BETTER PLACE NOW. TO HIS KIDS AND FAMILY MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP THEM SAFE. I THINK THE JUDGE AND PEOPLE NEED TO LET HIS MOTHER KEEP HIS KIDS BECAUSE THEY ALREADY LOST THERE LOVING SON FATHER BROTHER THEY DON’T NEED TO LOSE THE ONE THING THAT MEANS THE WORLD TO HIM AND THEM THE KIDS. THERE REAL MOTHER DID NOT WANT OR WANT THEM THEN SO WHY NOW.IF SHE WAS A REAL MOTHER SHE WOULD NEVER HAVE GIVEN UP HER KIDS IN THE FRIST PLACE.THE KIDS NEED TO BE WITH MICHAEL JACKSON FAMILY.
R.I.P MICHAEL JACKSON THE TRUE KING OF POP

I feel like so many others have stated, a piece of my heart is truly missing. But I do feel so blessed to have been around his entire career (I’m 60) and be able to see and love every single thing he did. May you truly be at peace, Michael. I thank God for your life.
July 8th, 2009 at 11:37 am
I have not stopped crying since the announcement of Michael’s passing. I feel I’ve lost a close friend that I’ve never met. Every one of his songs is attached to a specific time and personal memory in my own life. And, now his passing will again become a memory that I will remember for years.
I am thankful the Jackson family made Michael’s memorial public. The whole world was able to share in their own good-bye and be able to hear his family and friends share their special memories of the entertainer known as the ‘King of Pop’. And as all kings, Michael’s name will be known forever. He left us too soon, but his talents, style and originality will live in his music and his memory.
We love you Michael. God gave us his lifetime to embrace, now Michael is able to enjoy his peace, in Heaven. We pray for the comforting of the Jackson family at this solemn time.

It could not have been better, just what I needed for closure, not there yet, maybe some day.
Michael I never stop loving you!!! Your Music will never die, we will be hearing your music for generations to come. May you finally rest in peace. Truly a Legend , truly a gift from God.
Rest in peace .
Will never stop loving you.
July 8th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Those kids have similar features as Michael, they have very olive skin, blanket has the same eyes as Michael, and so does Prince. Paris got the light eyes from her mother and Michael’s father. That can happen you know. Try going to science class again people. I cannot believe they could never just leave this wonderful man alone. These kids are proof enough, just to stop all the rumors. Rest now Michael for you can hurt no more. Love you always.
July 8th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
Over the top. A gold casket? FOUR hours? As a society we’ve become too starstruck and focused on money and fame. How many died in Afghanistan last week? How many homeless didn’t get the proper medical care? How many American children went to bed hungry? Do any of you know or care, yet you sit in front of your TVs and cry about a singer who passed away 2 weeks ago?
The little girl was coached and that whole “I loved my daddy” speech was a set-up. Anyone who didn’t see it doesn’t want to see it. She wasn’t crying, she was TRYING. The rest of the Jacksons never shed a tear either. That was just a photo op that will be used over and over in custody proceedings to “prove” that the kids should stay with the Jacksons. That family only wants to use those kids for every nickel they can squeeze from them. When the public curiosity has worn off and the kids are no longer worth $5 million an interview, the Jacksons will kick them to the curb like last week’s garbage and you’ll find them out smoking crack with Whitney & Bobby’s kid — and not one of you will care about MJ’s kids then.
July 8th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Watching the memorial I tried very hard to hold back tears. Michael was before my time, but my memories of him just all came back. Like the time I tried to do the moonwalk in my wheelchair. It did not come out right but I still try. He taught me to hold on to your dreams no matter how big. Even if others call you wacko. His body is gone but his spirit will live on and I will think of him whenever I give to others. Thank You so much Michael, God Bless.
July 8th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
PLEASE AIR MICHAEL JACKSON’S MEMORIAL SERVICE TONIGHT OR TOMORROW NIGHT.
July 8th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
I don’t believe that he is really dead.
It was just so all of a sudden.
July 8th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Yes, it was the best memorial……. ever! I love you MJ, and now his 3 kids
July 8th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
I believe the memorial was done in very good taste and depicted MJ in a good light. He was truly a music legend and icon. My parent’s generation had Elvis and my generation had MJ. He changed the music scene forever with his dance moves (like the robot and the moonwalk) and new ways to use his vocals (like those vocal hiccups). He influenced countless artists of today and has influenced movies and music videos. He did great things for the world and supported many charities, more than any other pop star. His messages in his songs like Black or White, Earth Song and Man In The Mirror need to be taken to heart. He truly did care for the world and his fans and there will never be another like him. His music and his memory will live on forever. We love you Michael. Keep moonwalking in heaven for us!
July 8th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
I think MJ’s Memorial was done with dignity and it was very beautiful. I cried at just about everyone who spoke about MJ and who sang. But I wasnt crying just because I missed him but also how happy I felt that God put someone on this earth to bless us with great music. I can’t stop playin “Rock With You”. That was and still is my favorite MJ song of all time! I was looking foward to seeing him make a comeback. I know it would have been big! Terribly sad for the family he left behind, especially his children. They r the only ones who know the true man and not the music icon. The music industry sure lost a great. P.S. Al Sharpton’s comment to MJ’s children was dead on and oh so true
July 8th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Michael Jackson is and will forever be the greatest musian. His music has so much character and so much personality. his music is able to bring the world togethor. Michael’s music is so inspirational that a war can be going on and once his music starts everyone will stop whatever there doing and dance to it. Michael Javkson’s music is the one thing all the poeple on this earth have in comon. In other words his music is legendary.

July 8th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
The memorial was so touching and moving. To hear all those other celebs speak so highly of Michael Jackson was so impressive. Michael was a super talented man who had so much love to give the world that it overflows in our hearts. His memory will live on forever. His children are all so beautiful and he must be so proud of them. May his angel watch over and protect them forever.

July 9th, 2009 at 9:09 am
I am very happy that Michel Jackson’s children got the chance to be involved with their father’s funeral. He might of been a little weird, but he was still their father, and they loved him and will miss him. I am sorry that people even though he is gone now are still trying to make money of his name. Shame on all of you. Especially his father. I am hoping that everyone will leave his children where he wished for them to be with their grandmother, and let them live the rest of their lives in peace. Don’t take them away from the only thing that they know. It would not be fair to them.
July 9th, 2009 at 9:15 am

I HOPE YOU FIND PEACE MICHAEL JACKSON
July 9th, 2009 at 9:39 am
i don’t know maybe it just me , but i don’t think that was right time to flirt with the camera ( THE KARDASHIAN CLAN).
July 9th, 2009 at 11:12 am
So many things to say.Michael I hope the good things you tried to achieve while on this earth you can help from above.I hope all the bad things are forgiving.I was surprised to see corey feildman there knowing that he voiced what MJ had done to him. Good to see chris brown posing for the cam and that it was just anouther public event for him.The kids dont look like their taken it well and the daughter couldnt stop looking up as if waiting for an angel to come.Dont understand why the littlest prince had a doll of MJ and had it half naked. Why after everything MJ’s dirty parents did would anyone of MJ’s siblings think it was a good idea for them to have the children??! Looks like their luck to have aunt janet maybe she should consider adopting them =/.my thoughts are with them all

I just want say,Pat, i agree with you , to fufill Michael’s wish to leave the children with their grandmother. That is the only thing they know, love, and have been around. No one really knows but the Jackson’s about the past situations, I’m sure their’s much more to it then we were told. Speculations are not real. Fufill a dead person’s last wish! Michael would’nt have made the request if he really felt threatened to leave the kids with family.

Remember Michael always… I admire how the children held up -they are very brave children and beautiful like their Dad. I think if I’m correct Prince has the same skin disorder as Michael- look at his left hand in the photo.God blesses the Jackson family always. I grew up knowing the Jackson family and hold the memories in my heart, soul and mind. Lord forgive those who talk bad about him.

To Lizzy W - is the W for witch? You are one to leave all those heartless remarks about the Jackson family. They are a family that cares. lets see what YOUR funeral is going to be like when you go. Give the man a little dignity. He has helped people all over the world. He gave hope to a grand amount of people and was something special to a lot of people so don’t knock what you don’t know about him OR his family. As they say- ” Don’t be HATIN”"

I wrote something already but it dissapeared….. What it was talking aout is that micheal will cherish in our hearts forever. And he will be a humanitarian for life. I was also saying that Prince, paris, and blanket should deserve the best as they can from their family. Becaxuse their father just died 2 weeks ago. Paris i know how it feels to lose somebody that is very close to you. Ilost my cousin in january, because his heart stoped. The Jackson family I have you in my prayers. God bless you, the jackson family, and you micheal. This is not a time to be sad and gloomy, but its time to be happy and celebrate his life and legacy.
love,
dani

The whole memorial was very nice and I was extra touched by the words from everyone and the music. His memorial was on the day of my mom passing as well as her birthday so I enjoy and sing to her and micheal as they greet each other on the other side and look down on us and say that it’s okay RIP micheal and mom.

(I humbly send my condolences to the Jackson family and my prayers are with them, but maybe the words below may give them a different way to look at things, so I hope you are able, somehow to convey this message)
I read a recent piece on the divided opinion of the Jackson family members on where Michael’s final resting place should be. I understand Katherine’s reasoning why she, and the other family members, wouldn’t want Michael’s body at Neverland. I also understand his (Michael’s) statement of not wanting to go back there because of the trial and all that. I also have to say though, with all due respect, as a fan of MJ’s (I’m 56 years old) I believe the fans and “would be” fans should be able to celebrate his life, and his legacy at this place he called “Neverland”, because regardless of the negative things he’s had to endure, he was still a wonderful performer, talented beyond talent, a loving son, brother and father, and he adored his fans as they adored him, and so he would want his fans to bask in one of his creations of love i.e. Neverland Ranch. Being that he apparently was a good business man, he’d appreciate revenues and those revenues would continue to keep his Neverland Ranch up, as well as his children, family members and his charities that he loved. He loved all children of the world, and he only wanted to bring happiness, and so, this “Graceland type”, as I have read the comparison, would bring happiness to millions of people. Perhaps if such a place were created of Neverland, maybe this place would raise awareness of the situation of the world. Michael Jackson was a “Jackson” family member, and Katherine Jackson is his mother first and foremost, and I understand there is absolutely nothing harder than losing a son, a brother and a father (I lost my father at the age of 9). Michael Jackson also was a child of his public, so we have lost this wonderful human being, a humanitarian , and we all want to honor his life just as he honored ours with his incredible talent and love for all humanity.
I absolutely mean no disrespect to the family. I’m just offering another way to approach this issue….a positive way to look at a most arduous decision. My prayers are with the Jackson family.

Those children look like Christian Brando. Has anyone checked into the possibility that one of Marlon Brando’s sons could be the sperm donor?
Just sayin’
July 11th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
Can’t anyone else tell the children are white? Who are these children and who are the parents?
July 12th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Really??!! Chris Brown has his cell phone out during a memorial service? That’s disrespectful. Oh,and he’s wearing jeans…how classy.
