VH1 Pays Tribute To The King Of Pop

VH1 TV Shows | Music Videos | Celebrity Photos | News & Gossip

In addition to the one-hour tribute aired on both MTV and VH1 last night (see a clip of MTV’s Sway talking to a distraught Timbaland), the two sister channels are both going balls out to give Michael Jackson a proper send-off and his legions of stunned fans some memories to embrace.

Not only is VH1 News on the scene in Los Angeles, but VH1 Classic is airing a celebration throughout the weekend of the legacy of the artist who created the world’s biggest selling album ever, Thriller. Tune in to relive the songs, the performances, the choreography, and the styles that still impact pop culture four decades after Michael first became a star with The Jackson 5. VH1 Classic viewers are invited to share their own tributes and memories about the King Of Pop, some of which will be aired on TV.

Today (Friday) at 4PM ET, VH1 is premiering a VH1 News special covering Jackson’s entire biography. Also stay tuned for “Michael Jackson: King Of Videos,” a two-hour video tribute that Jackson himself loved when it originally aired — we hear The Gloved One called the producers of the special to thank them for their work after seeing it.

Stay with us, mourn with us — all weekend.

It was an accident, it was not on purpose. But somehow this man, this amazing singer, dancer, this amazing person change the world. And although he is gone, although this aches and hurts, we all remember him. We embrace his life, his music, his talent. We all embrace Michael Jackson.

My parents divorced when I was 5. You could say that my only happy childhood memories were when my mom, sister and I would all listen to Michael Jackson’s music. Michael Jackson got my family through that divorce. I am forever grateful to Michael for giving us such great memories of an otherwise tragic time. Thank you, Michael. We love you.

I’m seven years younger then Micheal Jackson. He’s always been a part of my life from he’s fan club when I was kid to the posters, cartoon I have every album from the first one and I was jammin to him a few days before he passed. I feel like I lost a family member. I wish I could of meet him but he lives on in he’s music and my heart, all those wonderful memories. My prayers go out to he’s family it was too soon for him to go. God bless he’s children.

Michael was a superstar with a gigantic heart. Too bad it took his death for everyone to realize that!
Like my 83yr. old mother said, it’s a shame this whole tribute to him didn’t take place while he was alive to enjoy it, he certainly deserved as much then as he does now!

  • Lease says:

I must say that Michael is a great man and an excellent dancer. Even to others, his dance moves will last forever. It was as if he was a professional dance teacher. The moon walk is well known and also his kick out. Watching him on Tv was like watching cartoon in my younger days EVERYDAY. Michael is a great role model to me and will forever be remembered and loved. I send out my deepest simpathy to his family and May God Bless You All.

Would love for VH1 to replay the box set of all the music videos that Michael Jackson did. I am so saddened at the loss of this wonderful performer, this individual that God has so blessed with a warm heart, generous nature, and my heart bleeds for his family and close friends.
