Michael Jackson, 50, has died, apparently of cardiac arrest. He was driven by ambulance from his home to a Los Angeles hospital this afternoon, after a 911 call was placed on his behalf at 3:21 PM EST.
Earlier in the day his father Joe Jackson said, “he is not doing well.” TMZ has a photo of the star arriving at the hospital, they’re reporting that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.
Update - 5:51 PM EST: TMZ is reporting that Michael Jackson has died. Their site reports that, “paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.”
Update - 6:30 PM EST:TMZ reports that one of the staff members at Michael’s home called 911 and once at the hospital, staff tried to resuscitate him but he was unresponsive. Michael’s sister LaToya reportedly ran into the hospital sobbing after he was pronounced dead.
Update - 7:42 PM EST: Apparently chaos ensued after Jackson was brought to the hospital. A source tells TMZ that there was “absolute chaos, ” and people were allegedly screaming, “You’ve got to save him! You’ve got to save him!”
Update – 7:45 PM EST: Quincy Jones responds to the news: “He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him.”
Update – 9:02 PM EST: Larry King on CNN is reporting that a doctor visited Michael Jackson at his home last night.
Update – 9:04 PM EST: Jackson’s former publicist, Michael Levine, has released the following statement: “As someone who served as Michael Jackson’s publicist during the 1st child molestation incident, I must confess I am not surprised by today’s tragic news. Michael has been on an impossibly difficult and often self-destructive journey for years. His talent was unquestionable but so too was his discomfort with the norms of the world. A human simply can not withstand this level of prolonged stress.”
Update – 9:15 PM EST: There are rumors circling the web that Jackson allegedly died of a drug overdose. Again, it’s just a rumor.

I am so sad he has died. I grew up in the 80s and his music was such a big part of my childhood which I love to remember. I still have my “Thriller” album and I will keep it forever! I can still tell you where I was when “Thriller” debuted on MTV. PYT forever! Michael, you will be missed!

I remember being five, and listening to his music back in my Spanish-speaking country. Today, my five year old daughter sings and dances to the beat of his music; she loves it. She is also sad because he is no longer with us. But Im sure his legacy will surpass time and our children will keep his music alive. His music transcended frontiers, oceans languages, and generations. We can only hope the messages in his music would do the same, and may be we can heal this world.

My first memory of Michael Jackson was when i was 12 years old, when the jackson 5 sang A,B,c. I belive it was in 1970, because Michael and i was the same age, Michael was born in aug.31 ,1958, and i was born on oct. 19, 1958. I remember Michael as a little boy, he starred with his brothers the Jackson Five . I commit to memory thinking how much finesse and stage presence he had. I remember this after watching him on the Ed Sullivan Show. All I have to say, “I cared about you Michael and your plight. Michael Jackson has been my favorite ever since my 10th Birthday last year. I have sent him many gifts to Neverland for his birthday, even though I knew he didn’t live there. I have drawn pictures of him that I sent to him. I am really sad and shocked and suprised and heartbroken all at the same time. I was shocked when I heard about him dead at 50! I’m the same age as him. I grew up listening to him and his family on American Bandstand and just kinda followed him through the years. It feels wrong. I’ve been listening to his music all my life. My parents, who spoke little english, knew every word to his songs. I can still remember watching his videos premiere on TV with my mom, God rest her soul. Michael Jackson was her all time favorite artist, to her he could do no wrong. Michael had a lot to say. He, like Marvin Gaye, left us much too soon. My two favorite Michael Jackson songs are “Man in the Mirror” and “Leave Me Alone”. First, you need to look at yourself in the mirror before you can change yourself and/or talk to/about anybody else changing their ways. Following that, if it ain’t got nothing to do with your life, leave it/me/him alone. Live and let live. Who cares if he has a chimp? Who cares where he lives? Why are people always judging and/or hating? Mind your own business, and that should be enough to keep you busy! I hope Michael is finally at peace.

michael jackson passing is such a great loss to the community and music industry. he endure a lot of unfair and unjust treatment from the public. but this world is full of greed and jealousy . i believe he paid dearly for the price of fame and he probably should of walk away from it years ago.but performing was his life .so lets celebrate he’s life.we are all god’s children never question the lord about anything because he knows best. michael beautiful soul is resting no more worries or pain. keep his family and children in your prayers.hopefully you learn from him about endurance, faith. respect ,unselfiness and love.one more thing. folks keep talkin about his finance (the haters). looks like the more you talk the faster that debt is getting paid off. god is taking care of that as well.
I remember when the Jackson Five’s ABC Album came out, I was living in Fort Benning Georgia. I cut the row of pictures of them off the album and put a string on it and wore it around my head as a head band. THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVE MICHAEL AND HIS BROTHERS. Although, I had a crush on Jermaine, I love Michael and he will be missed by me and my children who I let grow up knowing and loving him. Growing up, I watched MJ from The Jacksons 5, to his SMOOVE dance skills. He has always put a smile on my face. My children loves his music, I had tjoked with my middle daughter and asked her what she know about MJ. She said she that her daddy told her that I always listened to him. So it was passed on to her and my other 2 children. When we would drive out of town, I would listen to “You Rock My World”. When the song would end my son would say play it again Mom. And MJ would rock our world wherever we were going. I am still in total SHOCK that he is gone. He may be gone, but never ever forgotten. Michael, a pre-disposed child or child prodidgy if you prefer..born to be the king of pop and much more. His talent and kindness was instilled him from birth. He may have perfected his dance talents, however, they were already there. As far as the voice, it too was already there and had a meaning to be used. He gave and gave to those we know less fortunate, yet with nothing asked in return. As far as the child accusations go, in my opinion it could never happen. He never knew what a real childhood is to be aside from the stage. Michael could do no harm in my eyes and only gave (in so many ways) to please and help others. He was a true genius.
Being the same age as Michael I can say I truly grew up with him and Donny Osmond. I loved watching Michael. He is amazing and so brilliant. The dancing he did in the 80′s and 90′s was so amazing and the music was way awesome!!! Thriller, Beat It, and Bad were the best of course but that was genius. I pray for his family and mostly his children. He was a great humanitarian. To bad his own dad could not or would not be proud of him. Thanks for the videos, hope you play it again. Thank you very well done!!!
