Michael Jackson, 50, has died, apparently of cardiac arrest. He was driven by ambulance from his home to a Los Angeles hospital this afternoon, after a 911 call was placed on his behalf at 3:21 PM EST.
Earlier in the day his father Joe Jackson said, “he is not doing well.” TMZ has a photo of the star arriving at the hospital, they’re reporting that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.
Update - 5:51 PM EST: TMZ is reporting that Michael Jackson has died. Their site reports that, “paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.”
Update - 6:30 PM EST:TMZ reports that one of the staff members at Michael’s home called 911 and once at the hospital, staff tried to resuscitate him but he was unresponsive. Michael’s sister LaToya reportedly ran into the hospital sobbing after he was pronounced dead.
Update - 7:42 PM EST: Apparently chaos ensued after Jackson was brought to the hospital. A source tells TMZ that there was “absolute chaos, ” and people were allegedly screaming, “You’ve got to save him! You’ve got to save him!”
Update - 7:45 PM EST: Quincy Jones responds to the news: “He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him.”
Update - 9:02 PM EST: Larry King on CNN is reporting that a doctor visited Michael Jackson at his home last night.
Update - 9:04 PM EST: Jackson’s former publicist, Michael Levine, has released the following statement: “As someone who served as Michael Jackson’s publicist during the 1st child molestation incident, I must confess I am not surprised by today’s tragic news. Michael has been on an impossibly difficult and often self-destructive journey for years. His talent was unquestionable but so too was his discomfort with the norms of the world. A human simply can not withstand this level of prolonged stress.”
Update - 9:15 PM EST: There are rumors circling the web that Jackson allegedly died of a drug overdose. Again, it’s just a rumor.

I recently just found out that he was related to my husbands fathers mother racheal jackson of mississippi. I am so heart broken and my sympathy and love goes out to the jacksons. I remember as a kid, some of my friends and I would watch the video tape of The Making of The Thriller video and learning the dance moves (as I’m sure most others did as well). I admired him, he had a lot of talent, from great songs to awesome dance moves. His death has been a really huge shock to me and my family, may he rest in peace and my deepest sympathy to his family (especially his children) and to all his grieving fans. I remember being five, and listening to his music back in my Spanish-speaking country. Today, my five year old daughter sings and dances to the beat of his music; she loves it. She is also sad because he is no longer with us. But I’m sure his legacy will surpass time and our children will keep his music alive. His music transcended frontiers, oceans languages, and generations. We can only hope the messages in his music would do the same, and may be we can “heal this world”.

Michael Jackson has been my favorite ever since my 10th Birthday last year. I have sent him many gifts to Neverland for his birthday, even though I knew he didn’t live there. I have drawn pictures of him that I sent to him. I am really sad and shocked and suprised and heartbroken all at the same time. I was shocked when I heard about him dead at 50! I’m the same age as him. I grew up listening to him and his family on American Bandstand and just kinda followed him through the years. To bad we had to loose a legacy. A very good singer. I enjoyed his videos of his songs and can remember when they came out as I’m listening to them. He will always be remembered I’M Sure OF THAT. I will miss MJ I was not born when he was at the top of his success. I have been watching and listening to his music these last couple of days. Michael was the best and I am sorry he is gone, We will have his music for all generations to enjoy. I am only eight years old and am a very big fan. when i first heard about the king i was 12. i saw only one music video when he flicked the quarter in the music box and ever sience then iv been a big fan. and for those who dont like him should at least give him major props for his success. A LEGEND who loved his fans and we loved him back. He told us stories in his music videos which no one topped, this genius can only be learned from. He is the Entertainers entertainer and he LOVED what he did. If I could jump through my tv i would be one of the male dancers in SMOOTH CRIMINAL!!!! AMAZING!! We love you!

It feels wrong. I’ve been listening to his music all my life. My parents, who spoke little english, knew every word to his songs. I can still remember watching his videos premiere on TV with my mom, God rest her soul. Michael Jackson was her all time favorite artist, to her he could do no wrong. Odd as it may sound, it feels like I’ve lost her again. RIP Michael Jackson. Your memory will live on well after the dust has settled on this earth.

I literally “grew up” with Michael Jackson. I feel as if a whole era of my life is gone….I feel very sad however I also believe that Michael is now in a better place where his beautiful and generous spirit can soar! God bless you Michael!!

Michael had a lot to say. He, like Marvin Gaye, left us much too soon. My two favorite Michael Jackson songs are “Man in the Mirror” and “Leave Me Alone”. First, you need to look at yourself in the mirror before you can change yourself and/or talk to/about anybody else changing their ways. Following that, if it ain’t got nothing to do with your life, leave it/me/him alone. Live and let live. Who cares if he has a chimp? Who cares where he lives? Why are people always judging and/or hating? Mind your own business, and that should be enough to keep you busy! I hope Michael is finally at peace.

I was devasted to hear the King of POP was gone. He leaves behind a legacy for all to share and learn. When I was in college the only way I could study for exams was to listen to MJ and The Jackson Five. The music soothe my soul and helped me remember the important facts for my exam. Till this day I continue to listen to the King. God Bless his soul and his family.

Hey well i miss micheal jackson’s songs being played. I bet my mom misses his music cuz she used 2 listen to tje music when she was younger. My uncle must miss dancing the moon walk toi his songs when he was little as well. I wasn’t really abig fan of him but i do like to listen to his music. Jackson was a great farher to his kids. He was a great singer especially pop singer and was a great example of a pop culture singer. When my freind texted me that he died I din’t belive her at first. My grandma was looking at me like this czn’t be true but then i went ome sat on the couch and put the news on and there it was that Micheal Jackson died at age50. Miss you Jackson

I am from Durham, N.C. I want to say i love michael jackson ,i grew up watching the jackson 5 cartoon and listening to all his songs. I am 37 years old, i am going to miss michael jackson because i am one of his all time fan. He was the king of pop ,he was also a great entertainer, I never got a chance to meet him in person I would have love to met him, but now he’s in heaven rock ing all night long so now he’s not alone he’s with god. My three kids loves listening to his music,my 5 year old son loves his song “Beat it”and he also loves to dance like michael jackson. michael jackson passing is such a great loss to the community and music industry. he endure a lot of unfair and unjust treatment from the public. but this world is full of greed and jealousy . i believe he paid dearly for the price of fame and he probably should of walk away from it years ago.but performing was his life .so lets celebrate he’s life.we are all god’s children never question the lord about anything because he knows best. michael beautiful soul is resting no more worries or pain. keep his family and children in your prayers.hopefully you learn from him about endurance, faith. respect ,unselfiness and love.one more thing. folks keep talkin about his finance (the haters). looks like the more you talk the faster that debt is getting paid off. god is taking care of that as well.

I remember when the Jackson Five’s ABC Album came out, I was living in Fort Benning Georgia. I cut the row of pictures of them off the album and put a string on it and wore it around my head as a head band. THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVE MICHAEL AND HIS BROTHERS. Although, I had a crush on Jermaine, I love Michael and he will be missed by me and my children who I let grow up knowing and loving him. I am so deeply sadden by this lost and my sympathy goes out to all of his family.

I am only 11 years old and I really didnt know him at the time. When I listened to my first MJ song, which was P.Y.T, I fell in love!!! Instantly, I was listening to Michael Jackson songs all the time. When i heard he died, I was shocked and I couldnt talk for 10 minutes. I am still crying in memory of MJ. He was The King Of Pop and he always will be. He will always be in my heart and he will ALWAYS live on as The King Of Videos, The King Of Pop, and The King Of Music. Growing up, I watched MJ from The Jacksons 5, to his SMOOVE dance skills. He has always put a smile on my face. My children loves his music, I had tjoked with my middle daughter and asked her what she know about MJ. She said she that her daddy told her that I always listened to him. So it was passed on to her and my other 2 children. When we would drive out of town, I would listen to “You Rock My World”. When the song would end my son would say play it again Mom. And MJ would rock our world wherever we were going. I am still in total SHOCK that he is gone. He may be gone, but never ever forgotten. He will always be a part of our lives. 6/25/09 I will never forget.

Michael, a pre-disposed child or child prodidgy if you prefer..born to be the king of pop and much more. His talent and kindness was instilled him from birth. He may have perfected his dance talents, however, they were already there. As far as the voice, it too was already there and had a meaning to be used. He gave and gave to those we know less fortunate, yet with nothing asked in return. As far as the child accusations go, in my opinion it could never happen. He never knew what a real childhood is to be aside from the stage. Michael could do no harm in my eyes and only gave (in so many ways) to please and help others. He was a true genius.

Being the same age as Michael I can say I truly grew up with him and Donny Osmond. I loved watching Michael. He is amazing and so brilliant. The dancing he did in the 80’s and 90’s was so amazing and the music was way awesome!!! Thriller, Beat It, and Bad were the best of course but that was genius. I pray for his family and mostly his children. He was a great humanitarian. To bad his own dad could not or would not be proud of him. Thanks for the videos, hope you play it again. Thank you very well done!!!

I will never forget ABC, I was 9 years old living in New York. He was the love of my life then, I had never seen someone that age sing like that. He will be missed, but his music and humanitarism will live for every. Shame, shame to all those trying to captialize on a dead person.
