Breaking News: Madonna Wins Appeal To Adopt Mercy

She’s done it! As we told you a few days ago, Madonna has been granted the right to adopt Mercy James from Malawi, after a high court overturned the previous ruling. The Supreme Court of Appeal in the African country said the initial refusal did not take “modern realities” into account and praised Madonna’s charity, Raising Malawi, which they said should have been taken into account.

After hearing the good news from her lawyer, Madonna is said to be preparing her home in New York for the arrival of her daughter. Three year old Mercy will be flown by private jet to be with her new family – brother Rocco and sister Lourdes – and is expected to attend nursery school with David Banda. [Photo: Reuters]
