Brooke Shields is furious after a National Enquirer reporter checked her mother, suffering from senile dementia, out of her nursing home. “I intend to take every lawful action against all who were involved or who authorized this despicable act,” the actress said in a statement.
Teri Shields, 75, was found at a restaurant next to the assisted living center, and the Enquirer claims the freelance reporter—an alleged acquaintance of Shields—was asked by Teri to help her run errands. But the Lipstick Jungle star feels her mother was exploited for a potential story. “The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting.”
The elder Shields, a former model, was one of the most famous stage mothers of the ’80s, appearing with Brooke in Endless Love and producing her flop epic, Sahara. Check out the gallery for pictures of the mother-daughter team throughout Brooke’s career.

And here I was thinking they were all a bunch of sweethearts who really cared about people. Shame on me.
