While we love First Lady Michelle Obama and her affinity for J. Crew cardies (note the argyle number she dons below), we have to question her judgment on these overpriced kicks she wore to the Capitol Area Food Bank in DC. To the untrained eye, they appear to be your standard $40 canvas sneakers, but upon closer inspection, they’re Lanvins detailed with satin and grosgrain ribbon laces, and will run you a hefty $540-$565 at Barneys. Co-volunteer Jill Biden was no slouch as she sported a preppy look complete with Tory Burch flats. While it’s a tad tactless to wear shoes that could feed a family for a month to a food bank, at least she’s not in a skirt suit and heels.

I believe that people must stay true to themselves, the OBAMAS are where they are through hard work, persistance and education, now they can afford things they could not before. To say they are tackless is very tacklass.
They should not always have to down play their wealth. Plus the show is not oviously expensive so i dunno what the big problem is!
If staying true to yourself is wearing $540 sneakers to a food pantry then this country is truely headed for disaster. I’ll stick with my $25 kicks and give the difference to someone truely needy not the mackers of overpriced ugly shoes!
Amen, Trin.
I’m poor as heck, but if I could afford $450 shoes, then why not? Should I have to give it all to charity? The woman is becoming a fashion icon, she needs to show off. If she showed up in $10 Keds, you’d be jumping her for that.
whho is obama
i do bicth
She’s the first lady for crying out loud. Whatta ya expect her to wear? Keds? You wouldn’t have even questioned Barbara or Hillary or god forbid Jackie!? Jefs?
