The 51st annual Grammy Awards kicked itself off by awarding Jennifer Hudson Best R&B album of the year — and there was barely a dry eye in the house when she tearfully thanked “my family in heaven” as well as “those who are here today.” Hudson’s first public performance since the brutal murder of three of her family members (including her mother) came last weekend at the Super Bowl.
Tonight, however, seemed particularly emotional. We’re guessing it’s because Hudson wished that her family could be in the audience. After her acceptance speech, Hudson somehow held it together through an emotional performance of “You Pulled Me Through.” Wow. We liked her before, but now we’re serious J-Hud fans.

One Response to “For Jennifer Hudson, Grammy Award Caps Emotional Night”
Jennifer Hudson’s You Pulled Me Through was the high point of the 2009 Grammys for me. I can only imagine the emotional fortitude she mustard to get through that performance. Her eyes, body language and essence (something on a spiritual level, unspoken) convey her words were sung in succession to her higher power, family tragically taken from her, loved one still with her, and then her fans. She is a consummate professional and well deserving Grammy winner. I wish her and fiance David a long, loving life together.
