Britney To Play Carrie’s Cousin In SATC2?

Could the girliest thing in the world be about to happen? Britain’s Heat magazine reckons so, as their latest issue has Britney Spears being lined up for a role in the new Sex and the City movie. Squeal! Gasp! Dribble!

“It’s time to inject some young blood into the movie. My idea is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece and Carrie would show them the ropes,” the mag claims Sarah Jessica Parker has told friends.

As much as the slightly sinister tone of that quote disquiets us (injection: urgh. Blood: urgh), we’re also wondering if this idea doesn’t smack of a barrel being scraped until there’s no bottom left to it. We’ve already had the sweet-but-totally-unnecessary plot strand of Louise-from-St-Louis (oh, hold our aching sides) in the first SATC movie. Now are we going to have BritBrit as a loveable hick from down South learning about big city life in New York, while she teaches those hardened New Yorkers something about ol’ fashioned family values or some such guff?
