So Lil’ Wayne had a hearing in his weapons case in New York today — big deal. But here’s the fun part: Our guy in the courtroom says everyone got an impromptu Marijuana 101 lesson in the process. The Weez’s assistant was up on the stand today and under blunt questioning from the DA, explained in great detail how pot is “something we always have” on the tour bus. Wayne’s bud also said the star only smokes “dro” — which, as the assistant explained, is short for “hyDROponically grown” weed (i.e., the good s**t). The court was, we’re told, buzzing.

Accused album leaker pleads not guilty
A blogger accused of leaking songs from the long-delayed Guns N’ Roses album Chinese Democracy has pleaded not guilty to violating federal copyright laws. Kevin Cogill appeared Monday morning in federal court in Los Angeles and entered the plea. Federal authorities say Cogill posted nine unreleased Guns N’ Roses songs on his website in June. The songs were later removed. The album has been 10 years in the making. If convicted, Cogill faces up to three years in prison – possibly more if prosecutors prove the 27-year-old did it for financial gain.

Eminem doesn’t really apologize to Moby in his new picture memoir for being a complete ass at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, but he does try to explain. Apparently, he was abused and moved around a lot when he was a kid. Oh yeah, and he was a mean drunk. “When I was drinking,” the rapper writes in “Eminem: The Way I Am,” “I could be in a good mood … then somebody would say the wrong s- to me, and before you knew it, there was nothing my bodyguards could do to stop me from reacting and at least punching, spitting or kicking. It would be the simplest s- that would set me off.” “All my life I’d been trained to react. … My instinct was, if someone talks about you, you see them, you fight. But MOBY? Really? I was going to fight MOBY? And I was going to fight a puppet? In hindsight, I should have handled it differently.”

NBC suits are said to be “fuming” at losing Spears.

Rapper and MTV’s Pimp My Ride host Xzibit says 33-year-old Canadian crooner Michael Bublé is one artist with whom he’s grateful he hasn’t had to team up. “Michael Bublé and I were supposed to work together, believe it or not,” Xzibit said Saturday at the Galpin Auto Sports Grand Opening in Van Nuys. “It was supposed to happen in Australia for a little skit on some late-night talk show, but it just didn’t happen-thank god! I mean, I’m seriously an artist.”
