Rocker Meat Loaf hospitalized for 3 days in London
LONDON – A publicist for Meat Loaf says the 57-year-old rocker was hospitalized in London for three days following an awards ceremony earlier this week.
T.I. has dual No. 1s but claims underdog status
NEW YORK – Although T.I. owns both the No. 1 album and single in the country, the platinum-selling rapper says he still feels like the underdog. “Nobody has ever given me a win and nobody has ever said, ‘T.I., you know he’s going to do this thing.’ They always (say), ‘He’s not going to do this much, he’s not going to do that good, I don’t believe he’ll do that well.’ So its always been an uphill battle for me no matter how big I get I’m always the underdog,” he said in an interview.
Donovan still a Sunshine Superman at 62
WOODSTOCK, N.Y. – Standing in the rain wasn’t going to dampen Donovan’s spirits. At a festival question-and-answer session, Donovan told how George Harrison suffered stiff knees while learning the sitar. He even sang an unrecorded verse of “Hurdy Gurdy Man” written by his old Beatle chum. He talked about leaving a private audience with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as the Grateful Dead were walking in and how he first heard the sitar music of Ravi Shankar during a wild night out. “I got very, very involved in a paisley patterned carpet, I remember,” Donovan said to laughter. “It took me a long while to come out of that carpet.”
No one gave Def Leppard the Stanley Cup instruction manual?
The Detroit Red Wings may be feeling a twinge of embarrassment after their 3-2 home-opening loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, in which the Stanley Cup champions passed the puck like a remedial-level pee-wee team. That is, until Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott redefined the concept of embarrassment during one of their NHL Face-Off Rocks segments at the Fox Theater in Detroit. This is what you get for booking a band from England: Drive on the wrong side of the road, place the holiest of holy hockey grails on a pedestal upside down as well.
Tim Robbins gets star of Hollywood Walk of Fame
LOS ANGELES – Tim Robbins is known in Hollywood as an Academy Award-winning actor, director, activist and hockey fanatic. On Friday, he added comedian to his repertoire while getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Seen here mugging with magician Criss Angel after his Friday night show in Vegas, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony reportedly worked their own magic the next evening. Sources tell E! the superstar couple completed Marc’s 40th birthday celebrations by renewing their wedding vows of four-plus years at approximately 3:15 am Sunday morning in the Forum Tower Penthouse at Caesars. Reps for the couple have yet to confirm the report to E!, but it never hurts to congratulate a happy couple anyway. Cheers!
The economic crash has made life tough all over. Stocks are sinking, jobs are scarce and folks’ retirement accounts are dwindling. Now, the downturn is even affecting the vital partying sector of the economy. According to TheLondonPaper’s blog, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z couldn’t scare up his usual $50,000 pay-to-par-tay fee this weekend in England, where he’s promoting the NBA New Jersey Nets (of which he’s a part owner). Even after the rapper dropped his price to $13,000, there were reportedly no takers, with a club source telling the rag, “At this rate he might even have to party for free.”
Check it out! Nicole Richie guest stars on Chuck Mon., Oct. 20. I’ve seen the episode and not only is Richie surprisingly good, but it’s the best Chuck ep so far this season. Richie plays Sarah’s (Yvonne Strahovski) high school nemesis, but after a seemingly coincidental meeting at the Buy More, Chuck’s (Zachary Levi) flashes reveal that Richie’s character Heather Chandler (a Heathers reference, for sure) and her husband (Ben Savage) may be entangled in some major industrial espionage. Therefore, Sarah has every reason to kick Heather’s ass.

IT was no secret that Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark could party hard, but in her new memoir, “Runway Runaway,” the rocker’s former model girlfriend, Lorelei Shellist, reveals his tortured side. Shellist told Page Six, “I was 24 when Steve and I met . . . he was the love of my life.” She said Clark’s death by accidental overdose at 30 in 1991 was a result of “living on the other side of glamour.
MADGE VS. GUY – MADONNA JOINS HUBBYIN DIRECTOR’S CHAIR
After their disastrous collaboration on “Swept Away,” which had as much sexual heat as a Larry the Cable Guy flick, you’d have thought that Madonna and Guy Ritchie would have learned to keep their film projects as far from each other as possible. But their bad timing might be all gossip hounds’ gain. Madonna’s directorial debut, “Filth and Wisdom,” arrives Friday, just nine days after Ritchie’s “RocknRolla.”
Rapper Big Boi will play – sur prise! – a rapper from West chester named Gots Money in a November sweeps epi sode of NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU.”

There were no tables at The Box the other night, so the guy in the baseball cap took a seat on the stairs when drag queen Ms. Rosewood took the stage. Naughty Rosie ended up pelting him with a condom filled with a questionable liquid. After wiping himself off, Leo DiCaprio laughed.
Chrissie Hynde wants to open an NYC branch of her Akron, Ohio, restaurant, The VegiTerranean. She’d love the vegan venue to be in the Freedom Tower at Ground Zero. “There’s been so much horrific blood and guts and violence there,” she tells Peta.org, “that it’d be fitting to open a cool restaurant where no mangled, burnt bodies are on the menu.”
Travis Barker may be in the hospital – but he’s got a bone to pick with his ex-wife. The Blink-182 drummer expressed his “deepest thanks” to fans via his MySpace page for their support during his recovery from a deadly plane crash in September. But the 32-year-old also took a brief time-out to jab at ex-wife Shanna Moakler, who reportedly has been by his side since the ordeal. “Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, I’ve been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and an Georgia,” Barker wrote.
First Amendment lawyer Martin Garbus tried to get Lindsay Lohan’s gal pal to settle a $100,000 legal tab by threatening the Hollywood deejay with bad publicity, court papers say. Garbus attached a draft of a breach of contract suit to an e-mail he sent Samantha Ronson in October 2007, promising he would file it if she didn’t pay him for two months’ work. “Please don’t force me to do it,” Garbus wrote in the e-mail. “The blogs will pick it up.”

Chesney’s album explores his ‘state of mind’
NASHVILLE – Kenny Chesney’s fans are used to hearing stadium-sized country anthems from the singer. But the songs on his new Lucky Old Sun album, out Tuesday, don’t sound as if they were built for stadiums. “It’s no secret – there are about four or five songs that are about Renee,” Chesney says, referring to his whirlwind 2005 relationship with Renee Zellweger. It began when the two met that January, were married in May and split just four months later.

Rodney King enters ‘Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew’
ON PROMINENT display in Rodney King’s suburban Rialto home is a framed photograph — a reminder of his role in one of the most incendiary chapters in Los Angeles history. Now, although he had tried to maintain a low profile, King is again willingly putting himself — and his demons — front and center in VH1′s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” which launches its second season Oct. 23. The series is billed as television’s first examination of the rehabilitation process and features Drew Pinsky, the low-key celebrity physician who is well known for his nationally syndicated radio call-in show, “Loveline.” Pinsky is head of the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Pasadena’s Las Encinas Hospital.
THE METROPOLITAN Opera House in New York was invaded by aliens on Sunday, Oct. 6, 1974. West Village drag queens sat next to Puerto Rican couples and Black Power believers from uptown. A funky band replaced the orchestra that night, and as the group played an electric groove, two women — wearing so many feathers they looked like birds — descended from the rafters to join a third onstage. This was Labelle in the mid-1970s. They were not just a pop group with one enormous hit, “Lady Marmalade,” but a phenomenon whose music helped change the very idea of what pop and the artists who made it — especially women singers previously confined to “girl groups” — could be. “People were looking for three outrageous women who might sing and say anything, and who looked like someone you had never seen before,” said Patti LaBelle in a recent interview, reflecting on the emergence of the group she’d formed with Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash when they were teenagers, and which has reunited for a new album, “Back to Now,” to be released Oct. 21 on Vanguard Records.
New York Times
The BBC reported that the music producer and rapper Pharrell Williams, who helped produce and sang on Madonna’s album “Hard Candy,” made a surprise appearance onstage with the Queen of Pop on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, joining her for the song “Give It 2 Me.” As she has done throughout her current “Sticky & Sweet” tour, Madonna injected a bit of political commentary into the show. While playing a long, screeching note on her guitar at one point, she told the crowd, “This is the sound of Sarah Palin thinking.”

Ageless and Defiant, AC/DC Stays on Top Without Going Digital
Gradually, and without getting much media attention, AC/DC has become the most popular currently active rock band in the country, to judge by albums sold. “It’s like an artist who does a painting,” he added. “If he thinks it’s a great piece of work, he protects it. It’s the same thing: this is our work.” The band has said it does not want to break up its albums to sell individual songs as iTunes usually requires.

One Response to “The Scandalist Scoop: Monday, Oct. 13”
T.I., I am here to tell you and not in a way to put you down, this comes straight from my heart. Unfortunately, there are people that others just genuinely love, ex., had it not had anything to do with little Ri-Ri and domestic abuse, Chris Brown could have done anything and gotten away with it especially, carrying a gun because people would have looked upon it as a sense of securtiy. Usher can do anything he wants and people will love him, I believe people would say there was a reason for it if Usher were to suddenly end up with a domestic abuse case. Michael Jackson could have definitely gotten away with anything as far as the public was concerned and look at little miss Lohan. Had that been you, your black hind would have been under the jail by now with more time lying on you that would have been overly excessive for the crime, don’t you go in no store and steal nothing.
T.I., stay out of the public eye with negativity baby, you are given the black man’s rate of judgement #1, not to mention anything associated with gang behavior no matter if you are involved with it or not, gangster this and gangster that, you will not be judged as a Lohan. Try to get in touch with your spiritual you and leave the negative people in your life alone you know, that spiritual side that seems to keep your sensed up when it gives you the feeling that something is not right. Watch God start giving you favor in areas you NEVER thought you’d excel in. Because guess what, FAVOR AIN’T FARE. I dare you to start incorporating my prayer time in your life, more bible worshipping time by reading scripture. start reading thatbible from page one to the end and let that light come on when you get to the end that makes you feel you have walked into a tunnel of understanding of the things you never understood in life. Start praising God by telling him how precious he is in a day. All of this draws you nearer to God and he will start showing up more in your life and ou wee, you’ll start feeling his touches knowing there is nothing better or like it and you’ll start urning for more until you have that favor when you walk into a room which DEMANDS you respect because GUESS WHAT! FAVOR AIN’T FARE!!!!!!!!!!
