Kanye West usually engages his mouth before his brain. Case in point: A recent negative review of his live show prompted a blog rant the likes of which hadn’t been seen since Courtney Love bought an iMac. But the “Stronger” rapper spoke truth to power when he publicly dissed George Bush during a 2005 benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims.
“I hate the way they portray us in the media,” he blurted to the camera, referring to the media at large. “You see a black family, it says, ‘They’re looting.’ You see a white family, it says, ‘They’re looking for food.’ … America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible.”
As addled co-presenter Mike Myers did his impression of Bambi in the headlights, West brought it home: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” Cue dead air. — Charles Bottomley

i agree he doesn’t
I could tell by the way that Kanye presented himself that he was very hurt. He seemed on the verge of tears. He was angry. It seemed as if at any minute he was going to explode. I did a report for a college speech course about Katrina. There were a lot of errors made with regards to getting help to Louisiana’s residents. I don’t agree with Kanye’s statement. I don’t know whether Bush likes us [black people} or not. Frankly, I don’t care. We’ve always had white presidents. Right now, the economy is ruined. It affects ALL people, not just blacks. From my research, I read that FEMA and the other organizations were not prepared for the disaster due mainly to a lack of communication within the Federal government.
My heart goes out to the victims of Katrina. Things are looking up though. My heart goes out to Kanye as well. He needed a hug that night. I still love you, Kanye. And as for Bush, well, he has done a lot of things good for Americans, and some not so good. I hope our next President can undo some of the “damage”. Kanye, if you ever read this, holler at me. I’ll let you talk about whatever you want whenever!!!!!!!!!
I think that is such bullshit, Kanye West is using reverse discrimination!!! that is why we are not ready for a black president because of people who think like Kanye West! Like the president caused the Hurricane! gimme a break!
CANT SAY I AGREE WITH KANYA BUT I UNDERSTAND WERE HE IS COMING FROM AND HELL YEAH WERE READY FOR A BLACK PRESIDENT OBAMA 08 EVERYONE I HERE YA KANYA
I agree with Kanye West’s statement. He was the only one on that special that had the balls to tell the truth. America is in turmoil….and I (like Kanye) am not going to hold my tounge. It sickens me that people ignore the fact the race is still an issue. Wake up people it is. Stanford University even did a poll and an article on the presidential election. Of course there were close to half of the people that they polled that said they would die before thay vote for a black man. It is very sad but true. Wake up people. I’m not saying that all white people are racisit but the majority are. It’s just reality.
We aren’t ready for a “black president” because Kanye West and other ignorant people say that “George Bush doesn’t like black people.” He did a fairly adequate job in helping MINORITIES, which I think would have been better to say; but yes, New Orleans and surrounding areas are predominately black. Idc, what statistics you read, the areas Kanye West was talking about are predominately black. You would agree that what you call the “projects” and Lower 9th ward are predominately black any other time, other than when given the chance to prove a controversial black person wrong. No, he didn’t cause the Hurricane, but I think if most of your race in that area was ignored for two days and left on rooftops to fend for themselves, you would say the same. George Bush has the means to nationalize any troops or guard, but him and Katheleen Blanco did nothing. He deserves to be called the most #~#!)&$*^*_#)!$*+) ed president ever; even if he did do his best, Laura tries to help him out with some of her work for Americans; but he is a lost cause. Kanye West has nothing to do with Barack Obama, please disassociate the two. One is controversial; and one is liberal. Big difference between an attention @&+*^)(%(@`*^_&^! and a change seeker. George Bush has not shown any preference toward any race; but I mean come’on, you don’t see him inviting the Obamas to Texas. Kanye West is right. George Bush doesn’t care, he distributes government funding to keep the economy in its position -someone has to be low class, some[not all black people, AT ALL] are dumb enough to fall into the pattern of the system and not realize they are getting “played” instead of “playing the government”. This will be the first president, to my knowledge, that actually had to struggle to earn his education and position, yes, I think avoiding ^))(%*#!($!!$%% assination and attending a very mediocre university [[he attended Occidental College, then transferred to Colombia, then Harvard when he could afford it and had the grades]], student loans and such would account for struggle. I feel very strongly about Barack Obama, because not only is he optimistic enough to save us from falling into a depression, but he is also flexible and calm enough to take the criticism of even his own supporters and citizens. But like you say, we are not ready for a black president. Would you not elect me because of my color, I am the product of a public school in Louisiana, and I have more intelligence than you. I might add, I really feel sorry for people of other races that feel they must call African Americans “niggers” in order to even feel close to as intelligent as we are and as we can be. Never doubt a person because of race sweetie.
please correct me if I’m wrong anywhere, sweetheart.

Barack Obama doesn’t care about White people!
More than 150,000 Kentucky residents remained without power or potable water on Thursday after last weeks deadly ice storms, prompting President Obama to declare more than 90 counties a major disaster area and order federal aid to supplement local recovery efforts.
The storm has been blamed for 27 deaths in Kentucky, mostly from carbon monoxide poisoning from generators. More than 175,000 homes and businesses served by 55 water systems remained under orders to boil water, emergency officials said.
Making matters worse, because of a recent salmonella outbreak, federal officials on Thursday recalled all ready to eat meal kits that included packets of peanut butter. The packets had been distributed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
“Im not saying that all white people are racisit but the majority are. Its just reality.”
Yeah, and I’m not saying all black people are criminals, but the majority are. It’s just reality.
